900 Global After Dark Solid video and written review
« on: July 18, 2018, 12:11:27 AM »

The After Dark is available in two versions. The Solid and the Pearl. Both offer similar shapes, the Solid is smoother and it has a slower response to friction, while the Pearl is slightly cleaner and it has a stronger backend motion, making it more angular than the solid. They complement each other quite well.

We tried the After Dark Solid in our typical house shot and I really liked the motion of it. It took me a couple of shots to find the right line with this ball and in less than 10 minutes I finished shooting the review.

I got 8 strikes in 10 shots. The After Dark Solid offers a lot of predictability, when you miss out the ball doesn't overreact thanks to the S30 solid coverstock, and when I missed in the ball offered enough hold to keep a straight line to the pocket.

I feel this ball will be a great option for bowlers who don't want to hook the whole lane and for those who are just starting to bowl with a reactive ball. The After Dark Solid is smooth, early and predictable.

For the competitive bowler, this ball will be a great choice when you need to bowl in high friction environments and you need to control the breakpoint.

Overall I feel this is a great addition to the 900 Global lineup.

Thank you for watching!

How does this ball compare to Desert Ops

Solid is going to be less ball in the friction due to the strength of the cover, but it's very smooth. S70 is still strong no matter what core is in it.

How about compared to Ride.  That was a weird ball for me.  Out of box it was incredible right up the dirt.  Got a few games on it and it started to over/under
Messed with the surface, but no help.   Still looking for something with just a bit more reaction off the carrydown than my Pitch Blue.   Not looking for anything to move in with no matter how blown the heads get.

The pearl is going to be less, but I bet with a Polish with a slip agent, it could be on par with a Ride.

Angels review is spot on.  The After Dark Solid on a THS can be used on the fresh as well as when the lanes breakdown (third game) with small moves left.  It is so controllable and never over reacts.  For me, it is not a ball that I try to "bend".  I just send it down the lane and wait for it's predictable move to the pocket.  It rarely let's me down.
It's been a long time since I totally fell in love with a ball.  This ball for me as a stroker, with slightly more speed than revs who likes to play the track is a match made in heaven.
Frankly, I wasn't expecting it to be as strong as it is with the S30 cover, but I'm glad it is the ball it is.
I have resisted getting the Pearl because the Solid is all I have needed for league on a THS.
A teammate of mine has the After Dark Pearl which is more suited in my opinion for torched lanes in tournament play where it shines just like the prior Desert Hook.
I forgot to mention, the solid ball comes at 1500 polished.  I found it reacted a whole lot better with my speed 16/17 mph by hitting it with a 4000 Abralon pad to remove the polish.  It was good at 1500 polished, but great with the polished removed.

Some staffers have said it's almost exactly like a Night Hawk SE. That sells me on it.
