Desert Opts / Truth Pearl anyone have any details yet?
-
Aren't you a staffer? Shouldn't you have the details?
On a side note, the stock pictures for both look great

Yes - Some staffers receive information faster than others. Haven't seen anything just yet, but would be shocked if some of the more senior level staffers have
Here is my guess:
Desert Opts is a replacement for the desert hook?
Truth Pearl is just that, but I hope they didn't mess with the core dynamics like the Respect Pearl
-
If the Desert Ops happens to have the S30 or similar cover and the modified core from the Special Ops, ill have an order for 2 immediately
-
I have heard a lot of people talking about how great the desert hook was on the dry. What made it so special?
-
S30 ignored the heads and mids unless they were on fire. Personally, I liked my Link more than my Desert Hook, but the Desert gives a smoother move off the spot than the Link did.
-
Sounds exactly like what I need under my ride. Hope the desert ops is a good replacement
-
I'd be interested to see what they do with it...
-
OPS, not "opts"....c'mon OP this is your product line.

Lol I think the same thing. They want knucklehead pro shop guys or people that have 1000 revs. Not people who know the product and are knowledgeable down to the finest detail.
Gotta love the reviews too.

Someone should start a "Doom for Global Staff" petition. #justsayin

So you don't have a shop OR 1000 revs?

No... I'm about 900 revs short.

Sure do like the Black Ops.Desert Ops sounds interesting if its the same reaction but for dryer conditions.Just seems nobody really makes anything for dry conditions.A lot of times entry level stuff is actually to strong for dry and urethane hooks early.Where did you guys see the info or pics of it?

Thanks interested in what cover they use for the desert ops.The Black ops is my favorite asymmetric ever. The Break core rolls great.Just hope it has a really weak cover.I have a green purple boost thinking it would be good for toast.Well wrong answer the Boost are way strong for entry level. We have really dry ths here in the South.38ft and lots of friction side to side.Actually ridiculous But the three houses we have are owned by same owner.Same BS shot at all three. The Desert name at least fits on what we bowl on.Thanks for the pics.Looks good kinda like a track desert heat.
-
It probably will be really easy for them to put a boost cover. But my guess is s43..but I don't know jack about what theyre actually going to out on it
-
I can't see them launching another ball in the "Ops" line with it not being S70. I'm super excited for the Truth Pearl.

I'd be happy with some more dreams in the upper mid price point! A la Critical, and black widow!

I'd say the Desert Ops could be a pearl Special Ops (hybrid F70) IF 900G uses the same numbers as the Special 15 lb. 2.53 .043 .017 or do they use the Black's (solid F70) numbers of 15 lb. 2.48 .058 .021? But you already have the Inception Pearl stronger cover (S74R pearl) and different weight block Adaptor/D Asymm. but with similar numbers to Black Ops 15 lb. 2.48 .055 .024. Plus the Deseert Ops would be at a much better price point.
The Specials, I have seen around here already get way down the lane with pin under layouts and quite torquey...... I can't imagine how far a pearl Ops would go if it has the Special numbers.
BTW like to see some staffers compare the Drift, Special Ops and Inception Pearl with the Desert Ops on a burnt up shot leftover from the day before....NOT a THS fresh. Then, we could learn a lot more.
-
Shoot, I'll do it. Why does it have to be a staffer?? ;)
-
Yeah atleast doom'll be honest. I don't give a hoot what staffers say really.
-
Have u seen hammers ball videos? They go through the trouble of making a new ball that completely overlaps the previous except for 2 boards. Lol. Use the ball on the intended conditions and show the old one fail or something Jesus!
-
My Drift won't have the same layout, but I'll throw a break down in there! #sendmeballs
-
Would you include the obligatory statement that this ball is 1) a great benchmark, 2) has a strong backend movement that allows you to get deep, 3) first out of my bag, 4) a must have for league AND tournament bowlers, and 5) early ball of the year candidate?
If not, I just couldn't read/watch your review...
😁

Impending Doom do it! I have never seen your video's where are they? Really like to see the Nighthawk SE in action.

No videos yet, but if you all tell 900 Global you would like to see it, it would hasten the process and take a load off of my wallet!
Also, S², I couldn't do that if I tried. #nobsinme

So on the desert ops, is the s70 cover not as strong as what I think it would be? I'm not familiar with their cover naming system

Think Storm's R2S, maybe slightly stronger. Their S74 covers have been pretty similar to R2X
-
S70 is going to be medium strong in terms of strength, depending on cover prep. Not something I would use on the burn, but not on a flood out of box.

yeah same number in the core but I'm guess a more responsive cover. I think that S70 on the breakdown was a lower responsive version. Personally I think the Desert Ops will be very good.
-
Desert Ops same as BreakDown but with S70 pearl. ID was correct.

I'm going to compare a Break Down, And all 3 Ops for my br folk. Don't know if the budget will be able to handle an Inception Pearl though. Will be interesting to have 5 Break cores in my bag though.
-
The Desert Ops should be an interesting piece. The Break Down was a very specific reaction for pretty specific patterns. The patterns needed friction for the Break Down to work. It was very good in later blocks for me on sport patterns. House Shots needed hook for me to throw it, and when I could throw it, I definitely struck a bunch. We won't have the staff balls until after the 1st. Rumor has it that the Desert Ops will have a stronger cover than the Break Down which will be a great thing. We shall see once I get them and test them out.
-
So Curt, they toned down the S70 on the BD, or they're juicing up the cover on the Desert?
-
Now that's a great question. I'm thinking a could have been a bit of both. The Break Down fit a specific spot, but on some of the higher ratio house patterns, the Break Down sometimes had bad over under even when you had friction to the right. I'm thinking with this release the cover might have been tweaked to make sure the Desert Ops doesn't have that same over/under.

This is just me, but I wouldn't see the Down as a good choice on a high ratio house shot. High RG, low diff, strong cover wouldn't blend the pattern very well, imo. Not enough diff to miss into the shim and too much cover to play out in the dirt.
-
I was hoping the cover was going to be a little weaker.I really like the motion from my Black Ops.Here in the south dry means dry.We have dry houseshots for the House Hacks so they can shoot scores..I can usually use black ops maybe game and a half playing deep angles.Black Ops is my favorite asymmetric, usually can't throw strong asymmetrics being very rev dominant.Have thought about trying a Breakdown just not sure how weak it really is.

You are correct about the core numbers and what the Break Down showed, but as we all know, even sometimes on lower ratio house patterns, as they break down you will get over/under fairly quick in some instances. But on something short or medium that is tough, the Break Down was absolute money. The team pattern at Nationals hooked a bunch. The Break Down was a great choice to keep you angle closed. I still think the Desert Ops will be super clean, just thinking the pearl and maybe a slightly stronger cover will eliminate the over/under problem.

The Desert Ops should be a pretty big step below the Black Ops. I will definitely let you know once I drill it. The Break Down had the same cover as the Black Ops and is about an arrow weaker due to the core numbers. I expect about the same out of the Desert Ops just a different motion than the Break Down.

I will be doing a comparison of all 4 balls in a couple of months.
