Eon... Prodigy Esque
« on: July 04, 2019, 03:34:22 PM »
For those of you that threw/throw a lot of Storm, the original Eon is very reminiscent of the Prodigy in my opinion. I've always been a fan of the particle coverstocks. They create traction much differently from the oil soakers of today. I have my Eon at 2000 to provide more of the box Prodigy reaction. Low RG, high diff, earlier reading sanded pearl cover are all attributes from the Prodigy. Hopefully some others can chime in on this take. While it's currently on sale at Buddies for $90, I would highly recommend checking this ball out if you were a fan or wanted a Prodigy for modern conditions.

Shot 300 with a prodigy out of the box.   20 games later I could barely get the 5 pin out.

Loved my Prodigy as well! Shot 735 with it at a local tourney. But I think I messed up and smoothed out the particles when I took it to my spinner.

Put it at 1000 and it was never the same after I brought it back to a shined pearl. Still searching for that oob look I had originally.

I've seen at least two different Eons released. Is this the original, first one?

Someone on this forum recommended an Eon as a substitute for the Storm Marvel Pearl. I have to admit I am intrigued by this ball.

If you keep it shiny, I could definitely see it. However, it's an earlier read and stronger midlane if you kept a decent amount of surface on your Marvel Pearl in the past. Just a heads up if you make that move!

That was me, actually! I find it unique because both balls dig into the lane, but make a *very* controlled motion. I think the Eon can handle more oil out of box.

I recently hit my Eon with 1000 pad by hand. One of teammates just out of blue said to try that. So, I did. Holy. Crap. I don't know how the ball doesn't hook much earlier, but it chugs earlier and the motion is more continuous and less jerky. The messengers I saw were insane.

With the ball being 90 bucks, I might grab another one. I currently have my Eon pin down, and I'm tempted to get one and drill it pin up, with a strong pin placement.

This ball was one of the few resin balls that I could use towards the end of the season. Eon Infinite as well, though stronger in the oil. Haven't really tried it this summer. I even found it to be pretty smooth out of the box, and I usually hate that 1500 grit polish. 9 strikes the first game used oob in league. Maybe I will try it in league this coming week, despite me always saying I need to stick with urethane. But summer league...

I can 2nd it, the eon is very marvely/prodigyly...

I'm really wanting to try the infinite eon and try that oob, versus taking the shine off of the og.

If the Eon is like a Marvel Pearl, then the WHB is like a HyRoad pearl. Completely different motions.
