Another manufacturing facility down.

Seems like the 900 Global and Storm relationship is going to be fairly similar to the Radical and Brunswick relationship now. Separate managing and R&D teams but using the main facility to produce stuff.

Seeing what happens going forward will be interesting. 900 Global product is probably going to come out ahead after all of this, kind of like they did for a short time when their 3-color pieces were poured in Utah a few years back. But will they have to scale back the amount of options they offer? I was under the assumption that the plant in Utah had all the work they could handle already. Adding on a whole new line, especially one as robust as 900 Global's, sounds... ambitious.

Bowling ball companies and the bowling industry will NOT come out ahead. As every single prediction from politicians fails, with a death told about same as flu, with padded numbers where testing is not needed to call a covid-19 death, we can start to see the truth.

Unwanted fear mongering. Bogus "public health" that hasn't been proven to save any lives. Suppressed treatments such as ozone. and an economic collapse that will kill many, many more than the lockdown.

The main concern for bowling remains, will your center still be around when this lockdown ends?

This is just one example of many more to come, of permanent jobs GONE from this lockdown. How many heart attacks, suicides and other deaths of despairs is the economic ruin instigated by power mad politicians going to bring.

Just like Iraq and Aphganastan, they bring us into war with no exit strategy.

Maybe people can go bowling soon with face masks. No more high fives after strikes. Those germs are everywhere. This is the new normal.

Coor.....after Brunswick bought Ebonite and moved production to Mexico- Brunswick told Storm they no longer had capacity to produce Tropicals. Storm decided to build an expansion of their manufacturing facilities. Evidently their capacity increased enough to move all manufacturing to Utah. Smart play to reduce costs (overhead) from 2 plants to 1. Total suckitude for all workers in San Antonio now out of a job.

I'm good w/it from a quality standpoint.  I really only throw Storm/Roto with a couple Global pieces (s/o northface) mixed in.

I do feel for the workers in San Antonio, they must be acknowledged.  I hope they're able to find some employment opportunities.

This whole thing has basically changed life in the United States as we used to know it, there is no doubt about that.  It seems even large corporations are starting to rethink the need for traditional offices, and see the potential to transition to largely work from home staff.  It would allow them to reduce their expenses in terms of having to operate office buildings and related infrastructure.  Last figure I saw a couple of weeks ago said that upwards of 30% of large corporations were starting to rethink the need to reopen physical offices in favor of just having employees continue to work remote permanently.

Based on the general news the past couple of days, the "reopening" of the economy is going to be regional in nature.  Here in the Northeast US, there is a consortium of seven states that are going to coordinate their reopening.  The governor here in PA said that we are still only in phase 1 of a "three phase" plan to reopen.  He further stated that phase 2 will not begin until there are enough COVID-19 tests for everyone to take.  Then phase 3 will not happen until there is a vaccine.  That means he is talking about an 18 month plan.  That isn't going to work, especially for "non-essential" product manufacturers such as sporting goods.

When they start gradually reopening, the government plans to mandate social distancing and crowd/group control until the vaccine is developed.  Even with a face mask, bowling alleys in this region will have a hard time dealing with limiting their occupancy to meet crowd/group limits.

So, what political position are you running for? We already have a inkling that you're on some politcal ticket by your "soapbox" comments here, or is it the new party of doom & gloom?

I worded that poorly. What I meant by 900 Globabl products coming out ahead is that they would be better overall. By no means were they producing sub-par bowling balls in San Antonio... but Storm coverstocks are the king of the hill in the industry. I think it was the original Dream On that became so popular a few years back. That was poured in Utah. And now the whole line is going to be made there? Damn.

They're probably not going to be the exact same coverstocks that are used on Storm and Roto Grip balls, but close enough. 900 Global has always had mostly great cores and that should continue with the same R&D team in place. I think there are big, big things to come from that brand in the future.

Is AMF300 done?

I posed that question to 900 Global this morning offering whether or not Storm would have 4 brands or leave AMF in hibernation.  Haven't heard anything yet.  I think that would give them another brand to test their ideas on.

Well, AMF300 is no longer registered with the PBA. I think that brand is done. Unless Storm decides to register it I don't think they would just continue producing balls that their staffers couldn't use in tournaments/on TV. Takes away a chunk of their ability to advertise the product.

If AMF is gone im curious if they will destroy the plant or leave the place and the possibility for someone else to come along.
