« on: December 10, 2008, 06:25:10 AM »
alright guys and gals of 900 global. im gonna drill up an awakening, it has a 3 inch pin not positive of top weight but normal specs. My pap is about 5 1/4 right by 0. not really sure what i want it to do or where to fit in...speed is 18mph and revs are around 400

currently throwing a cell on long heavy, a break solid for long, gamebreaker medium (sport pattern master), cherry vibe (house pattern), kenetic. and thats really it...

open to all ideas and thoughts about how to drill this ball

the awakening will be pretty much close to your cherry vibe but not as angular when it hits friction. you can maybe drill your awakening like your cherry vibe to get a smoother look on a ths.

for me the awakening is perfect on a ths along with my villain.

My speed is 18mph give or take, rev rate is much lower at around 250-ish, and my PAP is 5" over .75" up.

I have one with a 3" pin and 3oz of top before drilling.

After drilling it has .5 oz negative side and finger weights.

The ball is drilled pin next to ring with the CG in the grip center.

For Me

This ball is smooth as silk, glides through the heads as easy as the Link, picks up stronger than you'd expect in the mids somewhat comparable to the Code or Villain, and finishes with a medium arc.

I use this on a second shift THS and with this drilling it is super predictable, controllable, and allows me to really stay in one place all night long just by making small speed or hand position changes.

In my bag this ball is the perfect fit between my Break pearl and my Link.

With your rev rate I don't think you'd want the ball drilled as strong as me, maybe pin over ring or something like that.

The fella Ryan traded with to obtain his Awakening, rolled his own Awakening for the first time last evening.  His ball is pin up, close to (4x3-3/8) and it was VERY impressive.  His specs are similar to Ryan's.  The ball provides great length with nice mid lane read, strong continuous backend, and excellent carry.  Definitely a smooth ball.

Our house pattern has changed quite a few times and now is what I would consider a lower volume 40' wall.  There is a ton of friction outside 10 which in recent weeks has rendered both my Break and Break pearl useless as the night progresses.  The volume is low so the track area burns up rather quickly.  My rev rate is lower, probably close to A_P_K's.   I purchased the Link S30 and rolled it last night with Scott.  Unless I hit my Break Pearl with some Snake Oil (not sure if that will do the trick or not), I will likely need something to fill the void between the Break Pearl and Link.  Awakening or Creature Pearl are the two balls I'm considering next.

I like to play straighter which often finds me in the track area of the general populus.  My pin over the bridge (5.5") Break Pearl is one of my favorite looks.  May go with something similar on the Awakening but I'm really not quite sure.  My Link S30 is also pin over bridge so having all 3 drilled the same may not be a bad thing.

Sorry to rant...hope you enjoy the ball.  Thanks for posting A_P_K, you're Awakening review has me strongly considering it as my next purchase.
