Help with Creature Pearl layout
« on: January 16, 2009, 02:25:04 AM »
Hey all, I have a Creature Pearl coming and wanted to get some advice on a layout.

I Was thinking of a 6 inch pin to pap putting the pin slightly left of my middle finger with the cg in the palm somewhere.

Anyone try something similar on this ball?  Will it be too weak?  Should I go pin under middle finger to give me a different look?

My arsenal:

Neptune-Pin over ring cg slightly left in palm (4000 abralon)

Venus-Pin over bridge cg in grip center (1000 + polish)

Cell Pearl-pin over bridge mb below and right of thumb (2000 + polish)

Rival-Pin over ring cg stacked below (4000 ab)

Villain-Pin under bridge cg swung right 2inches approx. (2000 ab)

Stats-
Power tweener 16-17mph, 380 revs, 55deg. rotation, pap 5 1/2 over

I bowl on wood lanes mostly

Thanks for any advice

i had a creature pearl drilled 6" from pap.
this layout didnt hook that much on this ball but used it to play near the oilline on a ths. that worked okay. but was unable to move deeper with this ball. cause it wouldnt recover propperly. i shoot some decent scores with this one. several 750.
on shorter oilpattern this ball shined. have used it several times on short oil with excellent success.
an even on 1 occasion i played deep with it on a 40 feet sport shoot on wood after several games on it.

I would go with the 6 inch drilling.  I have similar stats to you and I always end up drilling the ball too strong and wish I had a weaker piece for short oil and when the lanes are fried.  My next ball is going to be something similar to your idea, I was even thinking of getting something like a starburst and letting it double for spares.

My Creature Pearl has the typical rico layout (which for me, the pin to pap is 5"). This ball is a monster on anything from medium to light. Just don't tug it into the puddle. It will skate. That said, if you miss outside on a wall, it will recover from just about anywhere. I was really floored when I found out how strong this ball was. I have been using this ball for the last few weeks (including our county doubles tourney last weekend). It has been working out well.

Would doing this make it to close to my Neptune or Venus or is it still going to be stronger?

skbowl800,
To whom is your question directed?
If you are asking me, I cannot say. I've never thrown the planet series.

I guess it was directed at anyone who has thrown all 3 of those balls.
