Respect Respect Thread
« on: October 24, 2019, 08:43:53 AM »
I just wanted to start a thread and gloat about how good my Respect has been.

I got it free, for someone bought it, disliked it so much so fast that he just gifted it to me. It had *maybe* 6 games on it. Woot!

So I plug and drill it up 4.5 pin to PAP, and 65* VAL angle. This puts the pin right smack in the middle of my ring finger.

Out of box, it was a little wiggle-y. So I hit it with a 2k pad by hand to knock off the shine, and it's been off to the races ever since. I prefer the ball sanded, no polish. But I've had success with it at 1k, 1500, 2k, 2500, 3k, and 4k, across ALL sorts of patterns - plenty of different THS's, and sport patterns as short as 36' and as long as 46'.

I've never seen a ball roll as heavy as this thing does! The motion is strong and unrelentingly continuous. It's a great step down from my Dream On and Halo, and a great step up from my Teal Badger and X2.

I socked away another one, for our local distributor was discontinuing them and I snagged it. I might drill this one pin up with a longer pin (thinking 5" x 30*) with less surface than my first one. That way I'll have the dreaded Respect 1 > Respect 2 arsenal, lol.

Anyway. I love you, Respect. Thank you for listening to my 900 Global TED Talk.

Pretty much the same way I felt about my first one. I got another one from the remake and unfortunately, I didn't have the same spark. I went with one of my favorite layouts, but the pin to PAP was too weak on this ball. My first one was about 4 1/2 as well. Second was about 5 1/2 pin to PAP.

I hated my original, and never got a remake. Biggest mistake I made was drilling the first one 5*35. Should have gone about 4.5*65 to make it transition longer.

How did the 5 1/2 inch pin react for ya? It's a fairly high-flaring core, so I'm curious if too long a pin-to-pap would mute the reaction.

Hey Doom, how did your 5*35 react? That's real similar to the layout I have in mind. I'm hoping the 5 inch pin doesn't tame down the flare too much.

Cover was too clean, and the core was too lopey. When you look at the bowlersmart video and dude is circling the lane with a pin down, I should have gone with that lol

Lol, that video is pretty wild. And that's good to know. The cover, OOB, is WAY clean. It's polished to effing hell, really.

What are your release stats, if you don't mind me asking? This will help me make as accurate a comparison as I can.

Thanks, Doom!

Without getting technical, I'm horrible lol

No, I may be 350 rpm, lots of side roll, kind of a spin biscuit. Usually don't like fast response stuff, but that's only on house shots so I don't have to open my angles too much. I guess I'm a tweener because I get stuck alot between the dumpers and crankers. Been working on getting left of everything and going around the lane, especially on tougher stuff. It was great for tougher longer stuff where I need clean and responsive, but on the ths I should have gone slower transition. Lower stronger pin and surface.

Ahh, you're less horrible than me, I guarantee it. I'm like 325 and spin it like a top! But it's okay, I think. And that info is helpful in helping me decide on a layout, so thank you!
