Honey Badger is LEGIT
« on: May 07, 2018, 12:05:23 AM »
Wow, it's like one of the best pearl assyms I have ever thrown. No wonder it's getting the good press!!!

Kinda upset they went with a new core in the badger...

Any similarities to a Hy-Road Pearl or Code Black?

IMO, Code Black is close to a Black Ops, and the HyRoad Pearl would be closer to the HB.

I agree with Doom that the hb is similar to hy-road pearl. I have a code black that I really like and haven’t thrown a special ops. Badger definitely reminds me of a stronger hy-road.

The reason they went with the jewel core HAS to be the fact that the HB is 2 peice. From what I know, a 2 piece ball since it has no filler. You gotta make 14lb, 15lb, 16lb cores....just like the quantum's...

With a normal core like what's in the new Badger I feel they don't have to make as many different weights for the cores--right?

It's more cost effective, plain and simple.

its the same core. the numbers differ  greatly between weights and the Badger is also a two piece so there goes that theory

You're right. I haven't been sleeping the past two days due to traveling and time changes 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Totally didn't realize that the badger is 2 peice too.

So the jury is still out!?!?

I just have never seen a popular ball change cores...

Perhaps it was too similar with the the hybrid still being polished...and they wanted more midlane/continuation --or something..

Just got a Honey Badger a few days ago. Didn't test it at all before taking it to a tournament. Ended up bailing me out in one of the games. Going to update my feedback once I throw it more. Rolls really well though that's for sure. Reminds me of the Hy-Road Pearl, but not as round of a motion.

I love this ball. Very versatile. Has a big move downlane, great continuation, but also has nice length and so can be played on many oilings.

The AD series is also turning out to be really fantastic for me. I don't care what series it's in, that ball can move!

It is legit.  Doesn't move on the back end as much as my BW Red Legend but also is less condition specific, more controllable plus has that 2 piece hit.  Only 900 ball I own as was a pretty unique piece that stood out then and now.  Probably be last non gem I plug motion hole on as well.

It just isn't the strong roll that I expected... Its very over under for me so far...

What surface fo you have it at? I took mine to worn 2000 on a spinner because polished finishes are usually over under on a ball like this.

Have mine currently at Maroon Scotch Brite followed by 30 seconds a side with Royal Compound so probably equivalent to 2000 to 3000 lightly polished.

I have mine at OOB, and I can use it in a pinch at burnt lanes, and really like it for that use.

If you're trying to get strong roll from it, yeah, definitely tweak the surface.
