Boost Hybrid's
« on: March 14, 2017, 10:04:39 AM »
The Boost Hybrids such as the Blue/Black and Silver/Black. Would they slot under a Hy-Road Pearl? Viable Ride replacement? Actually work on the burn or too strong?
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

I think Bill meant me... #spellcheckbro

The hybrid is going to be a step up from the Ride. When my Pearl stands up, it's left turn Clyde. Very continuous, goes thru the pins well. I actually like it more than I liked my Hook (and I loved my Hook)

If you can get the ball to push by moving left into the puddle, yeah you can use it later. Unless you're up the back of it, I can't see you standing in the dirt, especially with the black silver being at 2000.

If you're looking for something for the burn go with Desert Ops! I don't think it's capable of reading early!

I'll maintain this. There is no real option in SA for the burn except the Booyah. Desert Hook is the closest you're going to find to a ball for burn. The Desert Ops is a weak ball, but it's still S70 pearl. Can't compare S70 and S30.

Yep I didn't even fall for that! I was surprised they still went with 70 on it!!!! 55 or something! Probably didn't roll right in testing or overlapped something else...

I don't think they really find a need for it. I've discussed a pearl Booyah with people, but they need an S30 option in the line. Jumping from S20 urethane to S43 is too much. Likewise there is too much in the middle of the line.

Also, having thrown and seen the ball motion from the Torch, the Desert Ops is the Torch with a better core. F69 Be S70, little different numbers to smooth it out, and a different core shape, but the motions are very similar, imo.

With spring right around the corner and temps rising, my league shot plays more and more like "short oil" shots of the past.  Start left and climb on top of the ball return.  I would love to see  an F30-ish option with a dynamic core.  Something like the reactive covers from the late 90s - the slam series or the Nighthawks.

Boosts are like every other entry level balls. On houseshots with as much friction as they have you are better off using them .They will not blow open the pattern as bad. Only if everyone understood this patterns wouldn't break down so fast.
The boost are way to strong to be considered dry lane balls. The only really true dry lane reactive is a Columbia 300 reactive Scout.Pancake weight block that will barely flare.Coverstock from the 90s old superflex..Storm Tropical Breeze is a weak core but the cover is still a little to strong.
I have a hybrid boost about all I need on this stupid thing they call recreation bowling.

Bowling for Soup and others,

Anyone here tried a Scout reactive solid?

While I am a fan of my Pancake rubber ball which I can pour into the pocket like slow Syrup ball after ball after ball on my local harsh harsh wet dry house shot. I have not been impressed with my Tornado Warning pearl with its pancake.

I also have a Storm blue hot pearl that I like a little better with its puck system on this same shot than the Tornado Warning.

Anyone tried a Scout reactive Solid on an extreme wet dry house shot here? I wonder how it compares to a beast or other similar Columbia weaker two piece.  Some others laying around are Red Pulse, Pirahna, and a Storm ultra Hot. Or even to the leader of the pack so far old fashioned Pancake rubber!

Thanks,

Luckylefty
