LInk Surface
« on: March 24, 2009, 02:07:44 PM »
What are you guys using to touch up your Links? It says 2000 grit polish, but I havent seen any of that anywhere. I am using Reacta Shine, but that says 1500. And I have to throw the ball kinda hard to keep it straighter on the dry.
I know some have mentioned going to 4000, but I would like to stay with polish if I can.

 TIA
 Rick

Please don't assume that because Reacta Shine says "1500" grit, that it will put a 1500 grit shine on your Link if you apply it as is.

WHat about "2000 grit polish" have you not seen anywhere?

They apply it with an abrasive polish that takes the surface to 2000 grit and applies a shine to it at the same time.

If you'd like it finer than that, in order to go longer and hook less, sand it to 4000 grit Abralon and apply a good polish, like Storm's Xtra Shine or Valentino's Snake Oil, over that finish.

If you need more length that that, apply Powerhouse's Delayed Reaction. It has slip agent that prevents oil absorption. It adds length and reduces backend.

Ok so what product do I use? The pro shop said he couldnt supply any 2000 grit polish.
I like the OOB finish, once we added a weight hole. Its just got about 40 games on it and the track is pretty dull.

You can use Reacta Shine. It's just not magic - it won't put a 1500 grit polish finish on just any surface. Sand it to 2000 grit Abralon (That's 1000 grit US.), if Abralon pads are handy. Work your way up as per usual, depending on where it is now.  Then apply a healthy dose of Reacta Shine, until it looks like it used to or compare it to another new one.

The "1500 grit polished" finish is based on 1500 grit US.
