Maniac - first impression - update
« on: December 06, 2008, 01:58:13 PM »
Got a chance to throw the Maniac I drilled up thurs a few shots tonight and my first impressions of this ball are real good. Ball is layed out 5 x 3 1/2 pin up. Surface at 3000 plus Snake oil.
The lanes tonight are a little wetter than what i drilled this for but threw a few shots anyway , just to play a little farther right than normal. As to be expected at  that finish the ball glided  through the heads with ease read the mids and offer a nice smooth arc to the pocket. The  few shots i threw with it the ball caried very wqell.  I'm looking forward to throwing it in the house i bowl in on mondaY as i am sure this ball will overcome the over/under i have suffered there with other equipment. I will update this after bowling and also will compare it to a Code at the same surface and layout

Got to throw this poiece in the house I drilled it for tonight. As luck would have it we were on the hookingest pair in the center. This is also the pair that loses it's shot the fastest.I was able to start about 5 boards cloer to the track than i have all year.making parallel moves I was able to use this ball into the 3rd game before  going to my Break Pearl. I am  looking forward to next week when i should be able to use it for all 3 games. Easy through the heads nice midlane read with a strong arc th the pocket and devistating carry. I will probably drill a couple more of these as it is a great reaction for the price. A BIG THANKS 900 Globasl for this great piece!

First impressions of the Maniac for me are as follows.  Drilled the ball pin over ring and cg stacked below.  Had to polish it, just put Snake Oil over the original finish.  I am a righty,  cranker with an inverted track, ball speed is about 17-19 mph.  I actually was playing closer to the track area then I usually do.  Ball was very smooth and hit very hard.  On a few hits I was expecting to leave wrapped 10's I ended up carrying the shot.  I really like the way the ball revs up even with the polish in the mid's.  I usually don't post anything on how balls roll.  But this ball is really good.

First night out scores: 290, 258, 199.   The last game I was stubborn and refused to move deeper into the lane.  The line I was playing for the first two games was 15 to the about 5.  Last game after the move I was rolling the ball at about 25 getting it to the same break point.

I will post more tonight, after league.

Bought this ball used from axeweldr must say he sells nice stuff thanks John, threw it today with 1k abralon now as the surface just changed the grips and thumb slug to my pitches are cut to cuts are almost the same.

Ball glides through the first 45 feet and makes nice arc to the pocket, it reminds me of my beloved Pin Slasher but even smoother. It seems to rev up forever and then off it goes left, outstanding cheap ball i am surprised there is no love for this ball out there.

I was using The Maniac side by side with a break s-75 which of course was much stronger overall, The S-75 tends to get you in some trouble once in awhile with it's entry angle. The Maniac just reads the lane and punishes the pins with a nice arc that is very easy to line up from.

Slight figjam first league game 270 with 9 strikes in a row, had 11 in a row and ringing 10 pin before the streak ended.

Show this ball some love and try one out today, dont say the NUT did not tell you it was great.

On edit have 62.00 total in this fine used ball.

This ball is the first out of my bag, or was. I have used this ball and a visionary New Breed Pearl exclusively, and they both have took me into the mid 700's back to back. Now the maniac has been damaged by an alleys ball return, so I am waiting to see if they can resurface it or is it totally shot! Outstanding ball, best bang for the buck out there in my opinion!
