Maniac-Where it Fits???
« on: December 04, 2008, 09:53:38 PM »
Inquiring minds wanna know for those that know and have used the equipment.

In the 900G-AMF line-up.  Does the Maniac fit just above the Awakening...maybe the Villain in between? Is the Code above the Maniac?  From what I am hearing the Maniac at 1000ab is quite strong maybe at 4000ab it puts it more in between the Awakening and the Code?

I have an Awakening and want to go a ball above it for strength.  I've never heard what the designated number is for the Awakening's cover other than it was BASF pearl reactive.  Can someone ET, newguy give us an idea what the cover strength would be on the Awakening?

Thanks!

S-50 Solid, not pearl, built to go above(stronger)the Creature line but less  over all hook than the Break line

The Awakening has a S45 friction rating.

The Code has a friction rating of F65.

How did you know this A_P_K?  Just wondering ....the Villain and NHP are F45.

So, maybe the Maniac is only considered strong by some because of it's OOB 1000ab surface?

Hei$t and Code are both F65 and near the same numbers.  I always thought the Hei$t was smoother thru out the lane and back end and Code harder moving on back  end.  Is this true?

Besides this longer thread where S45 is mentioned:

http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?CategoryID=2&ForumID=112&TopicID=203428&PageNum=1

My proshop operator is a staffer for 900G and he told me as well so if I have been mislead with my info I apologize.

In my experience side by side with the same layout (label and 800 grit) my Heist and Code are nearly the same.  Supposedly the Code should have a stronger punch in the back but for me my Heist does.  My Code has a stronger midlane read and is earlier.  Comparing these two balls I find the Heist to be slightly stronger and usable when my Code quite can't turn the corner.

All three of my Heists react differently from quite snappy to quite rolly.  I find the Heist to be much more versatile saving more energy down lane.

Anyways this is how I see it most likely someone will see it differently than I do.

For me my Awakening rolls very similar to my 800 grit label Heist.  It just is five or so boards weaker overall.

for the Villain being F45 It sure seems two step stronger than the creature line.

What are people saying when they mention "pin fluffer"?

Not sure that has anything to do with bowling?

pin buffer is the distance from the pin and the VAL

Some drillers mention 1" pin buffer or 2" pin buffer. What does that mean on the ball layout? Morich comes to mind, maybe due to the dual angle drillings???

Trying to learn more about how to select drillings on balls!
--------------------
" used balls will travel "

Example,  you set the pin 4" to the pap,  then you set the pin 1" inside the VAL,  or you set the pin 2" inside the line.

So you are setting the pin a certain distance to the PAP, as well as a certain distnace inside the VAL.

This drilling is usually recommended on the Storm or Roto drill sheets.

But keep in mind,  "real pro shops don't read drill sheets"
