Title: Matt McNiel/USBC Masters
Post by: iamone78 on February 22, 2013, 08:47:46 AM
Matt McNiel is sitting in 14th after 15 games. He made the cut and is heading into the double elimination match play. Crossing my fingers hoping he does well and makes the top 5 for Sunday's telecast. Would be pretty cool to see 900 Global/AMF being represented on t.v. again. Good luck Matt!

Is he allowed to throw it since its the usbc masters. Or does he still have to throw different equipment since its a PBA event and AMF 900 global didn't renew there contract so there equipment can't be thrown. Would be nice to know what he is throwing now though.

It's a USBC tournament so all USBC approved equipment is allowed for use.

The telecast is owned by the PBA so if he makes TV he'd have to throw something else.

I thought it was too before I saw 900 Global's facebook page where they confirm (http://s7.postimage.org/h31hworyz/900usbc.png) that non-PBA registered products cannot be used on the telecast.

it being a usbc tournament  he is allowed  to use it if he makes it to the finals
but one thing that is surpriseing  is that  global was on pba telecast  a couple weeks ago in that celebrity  bowl the guy who one the singles was useing a TRAIN

That wasn't a PBA tournament, so the strict use of PBA regisrered equipment doesn't apply.

I agree with svengali.
Back when I threw Roto and they weren't PBA regisitered I asked that question to Schlemmer and Hank while I was at the Masters.
Jokingly I asked them what I should do if I made the show.
There response was we will put some Storm stuff in your hands "cheap".

Another question might be.

What will he be wearing on his feet?

He is a Lind's Laker.

There was also a brief 900 Global sighting on last week's show when they first showed Michael Haugen. It was an old promo clip and he was holding a 900 Global ball.

Looks like Matt made it the 3rd round of match play where he was beaten by Parker Bohn III by 12 pins. There is still hope, he is bowling against Sean Rash in the elimination bracket.

Stop posting the live feed, it keep crashing from so many people watching it, lol.

As for McNiel, being that I am from MN, I would love to see him make the show.  Rash will be tough, but Matt has been bowling really well and anything can happen.

The match with Rash was great.  Rash tried to get loud to get into his head, and it didn't work.

To get it straight, the tournament up UNTIL SUNDAY is USBC.  So he can use whatever equipment he wants.  The Sunday ESPN show IS A PBA EVENT.  As of what he had today, he can't use the ball he was throwing (900 G) The shoes he was wearing (Linds) or the High-5 brand shirt.  Pretty stupid, but dem da rulez.

So proud of McNiel.  Rash getting loud and screaming didn't even phase Matt.

+1 All the elite bowlers know how to zone all that out and keep their concentration to make good shots. It's a skill many bowlers like myself strive for...though struggle mightily to do.

He threw a War Eagle in the Pro-Am, at least in the first 5 frames.  He started on the lane next to my son.  The Pro's switched lanes every 5 frames.  My son didn't actually get to bowl with Matt McNiel.

I'd probably bowl better against Rash and Weber than anyone else... Getting loud just helps me out. Noise and distraction and what not.

So with the whole not being able to throw 900 Sunday, what do you guys think he is going to be throwing? EBI?

Regardless of what he would throw on the show he still used global to get there so hats off to global for making excellent equipment to get him this far and good luck the rest of the way

GO Global or go home

Matt was just on the Inside Bowling Fusion tourney telecast via phone.  He said if he made it to TV, he talked to his rep and he stated 900 Global had a good relationship with Storm.  He said he had a quick convo with Schemmler and he would get him set up.  He also said he had a plain shirt with his name on it.  Mentioned something about wearing Rhino Page's shoes if he needed
