Honey Badger - It's Good
« on: March 17, 2019, 11:04:25 AM »
I've had my Honey Badger for three weeks or so now. It's been the ball I've used for most of that three weeks, only needing to shell down when necessary. This thing is good. I know, I know, late to the party. But hey at least I made it.

It's pretty much everything that I expected it to be. Gets through the heads pretty easily with a really strong move to the pocket from the break. Not uncontrollable or super sideways (most of the time), but strong nonetheless. A ball you can truly move left and pitch it right with. Just what the doctor (ahem, more like treasurer) ordered at my main bracket house.

What has surprised me is just how much oil the coverstock can handle. It's not weak when it's slicker or the lane surface isn't quite as destroyed by any means, at least not for me. I've been throwing it on the regular at another house where surface is almost necessary unless you're pitching it way out into the dirt. The break off the spot isn't as pronounced there, but the shape is still pretty much the same.

To be honest when I got it I didn't think having to ball down was going to happen much, but I underestimated the S71. That's not a bad thing though. Going to a Shout (2013) and/or a Rack Attack Pearl if needed creates a pretty seamless transition.

Well done 900 Global. You will have my business in the future.

You know, I hate to sound like a broken record, but 95% of people don't need anything stronger than a Claw or Ops. You could easily go Black Ops at 1000, Claw OOB, HB, Boost, After Dark, HB Urethane and be covered. Haven't thrown a Space Time yet, so I can't speak on that. Looks very Dream On with more midlane and a little less angle downlane (Which isn't a bad thing)

Yeah, I'm pretty intrigued by the Claw now. Or at least I want to be. I have an undrilled Show Off that I think will give me something pretty similar.

I agree though. That's about as strong as most need if it is what I think it is. For me that's probably as far as I'll go even on the patterns with a lot of volume up front. Going to start getting away from the asymmetric snow tires. Until the next one catches my eye...

It's true, nothing makes me sadder than punching up the latest and greatest and have it hook like a foot too much!

Shadow Ops is a Hybrid Urethane that wouldn't be a bad option in your arsenal

If I happened to get a HB where would it go with the IQ Tour(got it drilled to be a control piece).

Probably to the #1 spot in your bag. I was never impressed with my IQ tour.

HB and IQ tour are night and day. HB will be longer, sharper, and more board coverage overall.
