Pin Down Nuts Pearl
« on: December 04, 2011, 05:18:02 PM »
I have decided to get a Nuts Pearl and was thinking of getting it drilled pin down because everything I have is drilled pin up. I have been having trouble with carry lately so I thought a pin down ball might give me a diff erent roll and help with my carry problems. Anyone tried a pin down Nuts Pearl and if so how did it roll for you

Not a perfect example. But, I have a pin up Nuts solid and it is fairly over/under on most shots. Same for the guy we bowled yesterday morning with his pin up Nuts. Wish I would have gone pin down to kind of blend that out some. Not sure if that really helps.....

Surface rules, so try adding a little more to make it less flippy and easier to control. Maybe a just a little hand scuffing with a P2000 grit pad?

+1 on adding more surface. Ball needs to read a little earlier and bleed off some stored energy so that it won't be so unpredictable when it hits the dry. That should help the over/under ball reaction.

I'm planning on a second one of these because I love my pin down.  So what your saying is if I go pin up I should add some surface?  I was planning a big pin so I could do a big low hole??  Anyone try this?  I've done this in a solid nuts and like it when I see some oil.

I think you would be good. I really think mine would have been much better with a low hole. The problem is it was a really short pin and the statics wasn't gonna let that happen. Double thumb it I bet it would be the nuts....

I put the pin down on mine, pin to pap is 4.25, with the mb on my VAL with a low hole. Only was able to throw it on some leftover stuff the other day, but the ball is strong, and covered a lot of boards. I could see where this would be an over under nightmare with pin up and a flippy mb placement.

I do agree with the other posters. Surface does rule. But, also, having something laid out differently isn't a bad idea.

Hopefully it will show up this week. A couple of months ago I ordered a Nuts and after waiting for it for over a month decided to cancel and get something else.
