Punching a Covert Ops for my Dad...
« on: December 19, 2018, 06:10:09 PM »
Thoughts on ball?

Any do's/dont's

I usually like to post stuff like this as i typically get really good results, hearing opinions from the 900 crew...

He's 14lb, slow speed, low rev, low track.

We're replacing a (like) 12 year old roto grip oddyssey....(last solid assym before the release of the "cell" ....yeah that's how long we been throwing Utah..before the hype train)

Any who...I don't know much about the break core or line besides tossing a break point a decade ago, and still tossing the low diff breakdown... Assuming the covert is much different than the break down....just wanna hear opinions! And go!

And thanks ahead of time Doomey!!!

Dozer, you know me so well.

I like pin down layouts on Break core balls, because it will still be enough on the back but it won't make you open your angles to the point where it becomes too steep.

If you're asking my humble opinion, 50*5*65 and tweak surface as needed.

I'll be expecting a Christmas card in the mail soon.

Merry Christmas, buddy!

Merry Christmas boost to you too.

Roto grip Odyssey that we're replacing is pin above the bridge, cg&s bias kicked way right with a giant weight hole. The weight hole is half the reason why or just replacing it because it's so massive it's ridiculous. His other more current ball (hyper cell skid) is pin above the middle finger... I don't know what the old man's pap is.... But for me that would be a 5 inch pin above the bridge, and a 6-inch pin above the middle finger....

Well with his low trac that would be like 3 and a 4 inch pin wouldn't it???

I think I'm going to go pain above the bridge and just match the Odyssey as lame as that sounds... It was his benchmark ball at one point and is get me out of trouble ball.

i went pin down on a Covert Ops and I am glad I did. I can't say enough about it. It truly shines on all conditions as does the original Black Ops.

I went 60*4.5*35 on a S75 and my Black Ops. Not saying I disliked either, but my 50*5*65 on the rest of the balls I drilled with that core were head and shoulders better. It's a torquey core as is, so maybe it have a shorter response time makes your angles get too steep to be effective, imo
