Reality Check w/Surface
« on: December 21, 2022, 09:51:56 PM »
Hey Global Fam, happy holidays.

I'm looking to fill a gap in my arsenal - a ball for when the lanes with length and/or volume start transitioning but aren't quite opened up yet. I'm thinking games 2-4 in a 6 or 8 game block.

Would a Reality Check with some surface be a good ball for this spot?

I mean it would make sense.

It's definitely not a super nova or reg reality in the bag.

But once they open up u may want to switch to a check and used until a assym with surface can't be used any longer.

"Checks" out to me.....

My spot for this is a Infinite Physix
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid

I got myself a Reality Check, and it is a really unique ball. It seems sensitive to changes in axis tilt/rotation. It sees the friction, no matter where on the lane, and then turns over. I can safely say it is less ball than a Reality and about the same as my Track Stealth, just a very different shape.

Either way, I will be trying some surface on it - something like 500, 1000, 3000. I think the 4k fast makes the hook phase way too short. Updates to follow!

For me the Check has a very small window front to back where it shapes right to go through the pins. I think there are more versatile options for that spot in the bag like the Exotic Gem or Infinite Physix. Gem is much better from straighter angles and the infinite is more versatile depending on surface prep.

Still a big fan of my infinite, very versatile. I think it's the underated ball in the storm line up...

based on my knowledge of bowling, Field test with some surface may be a good choice for that position, as it is designed to handle medium oil conditions and has an asymmetrical core can produce strong ancillary reactions. However, the final decision must also depend on the pitcher's personal preference and style, as well as the specific lane conditions they are experiencing.
