Title: Replacing the old Defiant with a Dream Big Solid
Post by: tommyboy74 on December 05, 2015, 12:10:29 AM
Well, after several seasons, I figured it's time to retire the old Defiant.  It's been a great ball in the soup but have been thinking about trying 900 Global and the Dream Big Solid.  Besides Motiv, I really like what I'm seeing from 900 Global as of late and they really seem to be releasing good equipment.

For those who have thrown either/or, how would the Dream Big Solid compare in overall strength?  Also, how do the covers hold up?

The ball motions look similar but there's no particle in the Big. 79 seems to be lasting well. Big engine and a big set of tires. I'd pull the trigger.

I just drilled up a Black Ops, it one of the best I've thrown already after only a few nights.  Time to look at more Global stuff again.

Vince have to ask how that Red Legend compares to the Black Ops? Love my Black Ops and seem to match up very well with the medium strength cover asyms these days.

The cores Hook shape reminds me of the defiant. I swore it woulda been more of a cell reaction... But its a defiant!

The cover reminds me of R2X...

U cant do much better than a Virtual gravity cover wrapped around a defiant core...or any core for that matter.  Especially if your a defiant fan..

I'll be honest. The Big is probably better than the others for me, because the Dream is so much off the spot for me that I have to back my hand out of it. If I get aggressive (for me) at the bottom, ball jack knifes. Carry is stupid good when I remember to not get on it. I think the Big with s stronger earlier cover will be awesome for lots of shots.

I'm surprised because you've said before that you didn't like that series. I hope that it was only the carry you disliked and not the shape.

I have found the Red Legend cover to be more allergic to oil than the Black Ops at box finish. It's even cleaner and jumpier off  friction. The Black Ops is much more versatile for me. I have thrown it both OB and 4000, left it at 4000 since I had the Red Legend ordered. I  expected the Red Legend to be stronger than it is also. It's a good ball but I like the Black Ops better. If I had to do again I would have bought a second black ops and kept it polished. I was really hoping for more of a Jet Black Taboo motion from the Red Legend, the Black Ops polished was closer to that for me.  I am going to try some changes to the Red Legrnd cover. But I can see having a stash of Black Ops before I'm done.

EXACTLY.

I couldn't carry with the defiant.  I also couldn't read its motion right at all.

The dream on is kinda like they fixed it? If that makes since.  Probably a beefier cell like code that did it idk.

Could be a different combination that does it for me...idk.

I have a Dream Big and it is a hook monster. box finish gets it some length but the ball really digs in and hooks.

The colors are great as well.

I could honestly see having all 4 Dreams in the bag with different surfaces. Big on the fresh, On to go around the pattern without squirt, Big Pearl to bank off the dry when the On is burning up, and the OG when the BP isn't pushing enough.

I know its not exactly the same, but our Dream Big Pearl is being released in January. A stronger core and cover combo vs the Black Ops at 1500 polished. I have no information on any potential releases for a Black Ops Pearl. If I had a vote, I'd say yes. However remember, that since the Break Solid, we have only seen 3 additional releases in a pearl with the Break core. We'll see what happens, but I see our line is very complete with virtually no holes combined with the AMF line.
