Respect Solid?
« on: February 18, 2016, 10:28:30 AM »
I'm very interested in picking up a Respect Solid. My Resect is one of my favorite balls ever because of the shape it creates on a large array of patterns. I'm in need of a ball that will be stronger than my Respect and IQ Tour in terms of handling oil and earlier movement. Hoping this ball is close to the Marvel S since I didn't get to see how the Moxie was.

For me out of box, the Respect solid is stronger in the fronts than the respect, but much smoother down lane. The surface is a tad smoother than say the Moxie. So if you need it to read more, I highly suggest using a 2000 abralon pad on the cover. It definitely brings the Respect Solid to life. By doing this, I think you will see it is similar in reaction to the Marvel S and will be a great fit in your bag.

I agree with Curt, Respect Solid is a bit smoother than the Respect. I changed my surface to a E pad (~1,500) and the difference was night and day. I now have something that is easily stronger than the Moxie. I've talked to others that went with 1,000 and saw similar results. I used the Respect Solid on the 2015 USBC Masters pattern this past weekend and had nothing but success. Very predictable and I definitely knew when it was going to make a move to the pocket. All in all, our equipment is very tunable and take surface changes well. So if you need a bit more length or an earlier read, don't hesitate to change the surface.

Agree with what has been posted up already about the Respect Solid. Smooth motion down the lane like your IQ Tour but more backend than either the Marvel S or IQ Tour.

Mine is laid out for "a very smooth and a lot of roll" shape similar to what I previously used on a Columbia Rival, that I used as benchmark for sport or tournament conditions.

Surface is key, can only be determined by your desired reaction on the condition you are playing on. Mine is at 4000, and gives me a great read almost every time I use it.

Great piece to have in your arsenal.

The plan is to use it at 2000 since I see up to 32.7 mL of oil and still need some shape downlane. If it rolls half as good as the Respect does for me, I should love it. I have tons of people asking me what I'm throwing. I appreciate the comments thus far. Love to hear more if anyone has more input.
