Title: Storm - 900 Global
Post by: NY Mike on February 27, 2019, 10:50:51 AM
I have been a RG/Storm loyalist trying some other brands from time to time but nothing to my liking.  Have any other Storm-ers experimented with the 900 Global line, if so, your likes and dislikes, comparison to the RG/Storm lines.

My PSO (former PBA-er) has drilled up a number of 900 Global balls for some teammates which have nice shape and roll.  I currently have the RG Intense, Storm CodeXXX, and the RG Hustle Ink and have started looking at the 900's,  some that have perked my interest are the RESPECT, Honey Badger, Badger and Space Time Continuum.  Any comments,  thanks.

900global & Storm combined together i believe recently in the last year or 2. Storm pouring some of the 900global high end stuff and 900global pouring some of the Storm lower end stuff because of warehousing issues with Storm i think.

All great picks, what kind of reaction are you looking for?

Badger is a great benchmark HyRoad type reaction.
Honey Badger is legendary, great skid snap ball for medium and up. Stronger off the spot than the Badgers.
Respect is a strong symmetrical that is going to be above the Badgers and has a very responsive cover. It's a fan favorite.

Space Time is going to be angular, but not uncontrollable off the end of the pattern. I'd put it above the Honey Badger due to core strength, but it won't make a 45 degree turn like the honey Badger.

I haven't thrown 900G since they first came out but the Badger and Honey Badger are catching my eye.  Surprised you made no mention of the After Dark Pearl for the lighter oil.  That ball intrigues me the most!

Well, I couldn't go on and on about our whole line! It's all awesome!

But you're right. The After Darks are something special. No lie.

i destroy a house shot with the after dark pearl.  its my first 900 global ball.  if  you need a weak ball to play down and in with on a house shot, this should be the only option

3-4 years ago they were making a lot more misses than hits. I think they’ve come around as of late. Coming from Storm/RG, 900 is a fairly easy transition as they share similar shapes, as would Radical equipment.

Space Time could play under your Intense. Badger series could fill the middle of your arsenal. With having an Ink already, I would personally skip the After Dark series and put that money towards a different ball.

Black ops is a must have in an arsenal. Especially for tournament play, sport patterns. Takes great to surface adjustments. One of the most versatile balls in bowling. Not to mention best values. Buddies pro shop has them in stock for $109.95. Free shipping. I just received my second one.

Yes Black Opps is a must But buy 2 because the first one will crack

I have tried the honey badger and after dark solid.  Honey badger us ok but my Idol Pearl has been a better option except on one Montreal psttern.  After Darl is special.   Great ball on over under house shot.  Also has some pop when I move deep on a really broken down long pattern.   Very unique for a low end option.

I have a original honey badger and love it and was considering a HB claw for a heavier oil patterns. My question is will I see a similar move off the spot as my OG hb on the oiler patterns?

I've literally never had a Break/Eagle/Ops ball crack. Ever. Since the inception of the company in 07.

Idol Pearl and HB are two completely different motions. Idol Pearl is a low RG early revving ball. It's longer and snappier than the Idol because of surface, but it's literally not supposed to work like a HB. Two completely different balls.

Similar motion, only about 3 feet sooner and smoother, but still continuous.

Thanks all for your feedback. Based on info shared, what is your opinion of a three ball arsenal consisting of the Respect, Honey Badger and RG Hustle Ink.  Please take in to consideration various oil condition, hook/ shape etc. thanks.

Like the honey badger, and ink. I would go with something stronger than a respect for oil. Black ops for oil, hb for mediums, ink for dry. Nice three ball arsenal. What do you think doom?

I like it, but add a little surface to the Respect.

Just took the shine off my Respect, seems to roll much better now!

After averaging over 240 with a respect for an entire season, I switched everything over while having a few essential storm/roto peices left like an IQ tour...

Don't fret, the respect and HB are both some of the best peices on the market.

Jumping in here with a question.  What would be the best option for late tournament? My son qualified for PA high school states.  Late in the regionals he was wishing he had something a bit better for late block. Had to work very hard that last game. Current;y has a honey badger, marvel pearl, Idol. Those are his broad and butter balls these days.

I'd put more stock behind the opinion of Doom or the 900 Global guys but my guess would be an After Dark or a Boost if the Honey Badger is too much. Smoother shape for the former and more angular for the latter (mostly excluding the solid Boosts, I believe none are currently in-line though). Depends on how you want to attack those late block conditions.

An After Dark or Boost would definitely work with an arsenal consisting of a Honey Badger, Marvel Pearl, and an Idol.

Depends on the motion he's looking for. A Boost will get down the lane further than any of the balls listed, but will be fast off the spot. Imagine a baby Honey Badger. If he's looking at the burn, then an After Dark Pearl drilled strong.

Appreciate the feedback. That helps a lot.

AD Pearl. Have seen Barnes throw it for both Pin 10 (World Championships) and first shot (New Mexico, I think), in different conditions of course-

but that shows you how versatile that ball is!

i can't preach enough about the after dark pearl.  and mine is drilled strong.  I don't even use it for the burn, they just don't oil the outside much for our THS and I just bomb away up 5.  I've had soo many people asking me "what ball is that?" or "who makes that?" or "you seriously only paid that much for that?".

it's been dynamite when I find dry
