suggestion?
« on: May 05, 2009, 11:46:04 AM »
I am thinking about punching a 900 global ball. Tight now, our proshop here has the bounty and the s75 which I have been choosing from.. Whats the difference between the two ball? Which one is more versatile? more value for money??  thanks in advance..

Depends on what you are gonna want the ball to do! The Bounty is gonna HOOK! It is a board covering ball! The S-75 is gonna be a little later at the break point! The Bounty is an S-77 cover with 1000 abralon, the S-75 is obviously an S-75 cover with a polished cover. Now the S-75 is gonna be the more versital ball out of the two. I know guys that throw that ball polished and its a beast! And I also know guys who have taken it down to about 2000, and the ball is still a beast! Like I said, just depends on what kinda ball reaction you are looking for. But I do know that the Bounty is gonna need ALOT of oil!

the bounty wins, in terms of what? hook potential?? so do you mean that the bounty is condition specific?  what about the s75? whats the typical reaction for both balls, if lets say they have same drillings?  or do you guys suggest that I just wait for the Break Point to be available in our proshop?  thanks again..

For oil, the Bounty would be the ball.  The Bounty core promotes a much sooner  roll where the S75 is more mid lane.  I've rolled all 3 (Bounty, S75, and Break Point) and each drilled very close.  The Break Point has the most back end pop of the 3 but does not handle as much oil.  The S75 was somewhat in between the two but I never matched up well with it.  Had better luck with the Bounty and Break Point on their given conditions.

so, its now bounty 2, s75 1... can the bounty still be used in medium heavy oiled lanes?/ or do i need to polish it.. also heard about pin down drillings on these balls that did not work out so well for them...is pin up drillings better?

i agree that the ball choice depends on how you play the lanes, ive thrown both (drilled same), they have the same hook potentional, i dont think one out hooks the other enough to make a big difference. Myself, i prefer the break S75, it gets me a little more length and a little more angle at the break point, but the bounty is a good oil machine that hooks sooner and has a arc motion to the pocket, overall there both good balls and you will be happy with your choice.

what about the layout of my ball? is it really better to have a pin up drilling? or does it depend on circumstances?

Of course it does.

What are you looking to accomplish other than 'punching a 900 Global ball'?

yeah, I know. But its because I have read from this forum about other people who has a pin down layout on their s75 or bounty and don't have any luck with them?
