Swede catches a break

The Brunswick Euro Challenge 2008 tournament contested in Saint Maximin, France, the last weekend was won by Peter Ljung, the Swedish international.

Peter Ljung started at the bottom of the 4 player step-ladder final by knocking out club team mate Osku Palermaa 232-217. In the next game Ljung dismissed PBA pro Ronnie Russell by 194-160. In the championship game Ljung beat PBA tour titlist Michael Fagan by 220-187.

Peter Ljung's victory weapon was THE BREAK from 900 Global.

I had strongly suspected Ljung used the Break. This confirms it.

congrats to peter. during the week he used the break pearl. most of team pergamon (swedish team) used the break too. too bad they got knocked out during match play. otherwise we would have seen more 900 global in the finals

Ljung may not have a pretty style, but he repeats most of the time. Pretty ugly match there, though, even taking that into account. I wouldn't say Fagan performed well either. It looked like both were a little lost on the lanes, but Ljung was able to get to the pocket a few more times and also catch a couple "breaks" (sorry for the pun!).

You can see Fagan's frustration very early on in the match. His (ljung) style didn't bother me, but the number of times he balked did.

And what the hell was up with the guy babbling in the background?

Peter got his share of the luck, but was pretty aweseome in general!  I think If I was sitting at the bottom of the stepladder with Osku, Russel and Fagan in front of me, i'd be throwing a few balls in the gutter! lol

Was a great tournament on VERY tough lanes (i dont remember the last event i averaged so low in lol) and the people I saw throwing the Break looked decent..

i agree with ryan it sure was very tough and i myself had a hard time (i also can't remember me averaging so low ) there weren't that many using the break in france. only six people including me were using the break, but still 900 global for the win we will see more 900 global balls on the european tour soon

The title is very misleading.  It's sheer "madison Avenue"!
