Tactical Ops - Back To Box Condition - ?
« on: October 29, 2018, 02:42:08 AM »
I needed a ball for medium oil condition and a friend recommended the Tactical Ops. After doing research and the fact the my favorite pwba bowler endorses 900 Global and throws mean ball male or female... you know who i'm talking about (D.P.) so stop giggling! I decided to buy one.

I stood to the left a board or two before the gutter and threw it 15 board out to 5 and wow! The ball took a sharp left turn and pow! Knock them all down. Granted the lanes were on the dry side but i was loving it. Perfect.

About 40 or so games later give or take, i'm noticing that the Tactical Ops does not have as sharp of a back end hook as it did when it was new but that is expected. The tacky/stickiness has definitely lessened and tac ball cleaner is not that effective. Upon closer look, a resurface wouldn't hurt.

I have resurfaced bowling balls before but not a pearl ball. How can i get my Tactical Ops to perform like it did out of the box? 1500 grit polished. Again, this is my first pearl ball. What sequence of sand paper to use and what polish to use to that get sticky feel again and viscous back end hook?

If you need to resurface it, go 500,1000,2000,4000, and make sure the surface is refreshed. Then, I'd go back to 2000, and use Storm's Step 2 polish.
