Missing link cover stock
« on: March 22, 2011, 10:54:14 AM »
Sorry if this is an old question but! What material is the cover stock in the 900 global missing link i.e. what is the S40 cover stock?

They used this ranked coverstock on the Creature and the Creature Pearl.
I suspect it is the "Super-Flex" formula or as close as you can get to it these days.

Although the Creatures were "copies" of the Pulses which had Super Flex, to me the S40 is much weaker.  My Creature doesn't act like anything else I have with Super Flex.  Pretty clean up front and surprisingly weak down lane.

Could be. Just remember that it was polished and fairly small differential. Solid SF seems to really come alive with a matte finish.

I have a Power Surge with virtually the same strange purple coverstock as the Creature solid. It looks like pearl but is really a solid. It has slightly more differential, but I have it polished and it is not a whole lot stronger on today's oils than My Creature. Plus 2 summers ago I used the Creature on a Shark pattern with good results.

For some reason I want to say that s40 is slightly weaker than SuperFlex.

I believe that the original Nighthawk (and Pearl) used SuperFlex, and the remakes were said to be exact copies.

The Nighthawk Pearl is rated at F45 - http://amf300.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=138&Itemid=181

For the original Nighthawk they only have the coverstock listed as "Proven BASF Reactive" with a hook rating of 50 - hook rating doesn't necessarily = coverstock rating.
