The Awakening along side the Villain
« on: November 05, 2008, 12:23:21 AM »
Looking for some opinions...

Anyone have a chance to throw or have seen either thrown that can share some similarities and differences?

I'm looking to fit something between my Break pearl and Link but am not interested in either Creature.  I already have a Creature solid and do not match up well with it and basically don't want to try either.

I've got an Awakening drilled almost the same as my Ogre Pearl and the Awakening has a similar ball motion for me with a slighty stronger roll in the midlane and rolls harder off the spot but very controllable. If I bolwed more on older wood....I'd be using the Awakening more.

I can't compare to newer AMF/900Global stuff.  Radar pin down I used to use a lot for a pearl nice even reaction.

Seems like Phil can design balls that give you that roll arc reaction very well.  Radar, Code, Solid Black Vendetta, Voodoo.....yadda yadda.

Very interesting to know my friend uses an Ogre pearl and I do like the reaction I see from it.

i have both and both for me are great ths balls. to me the awakening (drilled 5x4 pin up) is smoother off the spot than the villain (drilled 5x4 pin down). to me, both have the same overall hook potential with different reaction shapes. i really love the awakening and shot some good games with it. a lot of bang for the buck

I tossed my Awakening Tuesday night holy cow this ball is fun to throw.

Mine is 16lb 2-3" with 2-3oz of top weight.  I had it drilled pin next to and even with the ring finger and the CG in the center of the grip.  Label drills have been working well for me on 900G/AMF equipment lately.

For me, what I've seen from the Villain this ball rolls similar but a little smoother.

Contrasting my Awakening against my friend's Ogre pearl the Awakening picks up more and flips less due to my delivery and layout.  It is much more predictable and smooth down the lane though, very clean with a medium finish and strong continuation.  Like all other 900G balls it's quite powerful in the pocket, maybe too much at times, and carries better than expected.

It is definitely a great fit between the Break pearl and Link, it was well worth the wait to get it.

Great job 900G on making such fantastic equipment.
