Thinking about buying my first 900 Global
« on: January 03, 2018, 12:08:33 AM »
I don’t see a lot of 900 Global stuff in my area. Compared to some of the bigger companies (Storm, Ebonite, Brunswick) how does Global stack up? I have my eye on either the HB or an Ops Ball..

First off, both excellent choices. Secondly, I find Global to be in between Storm and Brunswick in terms of angularity.

Now, here's the question. How much angle are you looking for? Covert is going to be the smoothest out of them all, handling more oil. HB is going to be a ball to use when you need to step in and get some angle. Black Ops is in between those. Oob, flippier than the Covert, less flippy than the HB.

Only suggestion is to put your own surface on either the HB or Black Ops.

Excellent info from Doom. I'm not completely versed in 900 Global but I'll add a little info here.

If you're looking for smooth control, the X is amazing. X2 I speculate is as well. The X is very similar to the Storm IQ Tour you will find many people rave about.

The Break core in the Ops balls is also very well respected.

The HB doesn't work with the VISE IT thumbs - just a heads up. So if going interchangeable thumbs, you'll need Turbo brand for that ball.
Current Rotation:

Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III

I haven't heard anything about the vise HB issue... Now the DCT, those have problems with vise, not turbo.

My X is amazing. Not a ball I can go left to right with, but boy oh boy does it hit like a tank. Very Tour IQ ish. X2 is even earlier and stronger.

Ops is very Black Widowy. It's a great motion. Not over the top like my Dreams, but plenty for a house shot and anything around 40 feet in length for sport.

Get yourself the Honey Badger.  Its the the only 900 ball I have and only have had it for a few weeks but been impressed so far.  I am a sucker for 2 piece balls in general though and the edge to such a thick coverstock is less worries about cracking and more durable and it just has a different pin hit that I like.

I'll be honest, the HB and Covert are getting drilled asap. Another sleeper is the new Shadow Ops. Hybrid urethane on the Break core.

Decided on the Black Ops, I got too good of a deal to pass up. The HB will be next but I have to wait until next month. Thanks for the help.

I recently started using some 900 Global gear - the X2 is unbelievably versatile. I've never seen anything like it to be honest.

I have an X2, a Redux, and a Bubblegum Boost. Their shapes remind me of Brunswick balls during the Inferno days - more pronounced than they are today. The closest company with gear out today similar to my Global stuff is Roto Grip.

I'm licking my chops for that DCT Pearl.

I am looking at the Pearl DCT also, but watching the preliminary video's, I am not convinced yet that it will be more angular than my Network. Seems to me, it gets into a dead roll past breakpoint. The numbers are very simular, yet I think the cover is gonna have to have more polished finish for me to use the DCT for what I want.
Probably gonna have to take it to 4k grit and some polish.

While the core numbers are similar, the DCT Pearl is S86R while if I remember correctly the Network has 74 cover. The Inception Pearl would be closer than the DCT Pearl

The X2 is something special. If it had a bolt on it, the IQ Tour could be discontinued right now.

Haha! I've never seen an X go down the lane, but the X2 is truly unique. It reads SO early but never jumps. As a bowler with lots of tilt & rotation, it's a wonderful piece for me.
