Thinking about buying my first 900 Global
« on: January 03, 2018, 12:08:33 AM »
I don’t see a lot of 900 Global stuff in my area. Compared to some of the bigger companies (Storm, Ebonite, Brunswick) how does Global stack up? I have my eye on either the HB or an Ops Ball..

My X is like a super strong urethane motion. Drilled mine 5*65 no hole and it's butter smooth.

I'd consider an X2 drilled something like 4*20 with no hole to help get around the corner.

I saw a few X2's go down teh lane before punching mine up, and went with a 40 x 4 x 30, with a hole on my VAL below the axis. The ball was less responsive to friction than I thought it would be, but as continuous through the pins as an IQ Tour. This is a mediocre shot on 36' Beijing (after league):

Not hoping that 20 VAL angle makes it peel off the spot though right??  ;)

Off Topic, but I thought Barnes was going to be more hands on with 900? Am I missing something, I haven't really seen him hyping them up or any talk of his hands being in on the equipment.. Is Nick still designing the cores?

Nick is still designing, Barnes is probably behind the scenes.

Barnes is probably being like that annoying guy in the group that keeps suggesting stupid stuff and they just say yes to him and actually do what they want. I will say it does seem like their line continues to be more rolly pieces like Barnes game so take that for whatever it's worth.

Well, he had a hand in the Dark Matter, and that ball is pretty angular. He also seems to like the Truth series.

I guess he probably makes about any ball rolly with his release and surface.

Slightly off path but I will say I would hope that every ball company considers the opinions of their top national staffers.

I think that's more so because the flippy stuff they have stays in the line up while their rolly stuff hasn't really caught. Have to say it's rather disappointing that they haven't really replaced the Dream On or Respect especially since those two caught some interest by many non Global fans. The Respect is one of my favorite balls of all time.

In my opinion the first purchase every newbie should make is shoes.  A Storm Mix is an excellent ball to start with as its nearly indestructible, reasonably priced and once you get more into the sport will later make an excellent spare ball.
Kind of noob when made this account so take advice with grain of salt.

As Doom said, I feel like 900 Global fits in between Storm and Motiv (in my experience) in terms of angularity. I have been throwing 900 Global for almost a year and I am pleasantly surprised by the  quality of their products.

If I have to build a 3 ball arsenal for almost any condition it would be the Truth Tour, the Badger and the Honey Badger. (I would keep an X2 close just in case) and with those you’ll have all your bases covered except for the extremes. (heavy oil and drier conditions)

If I were limited to only a 2 ball bag for league then I would go with the Badger/Honey Badger combo. They are great pieces and they complement each other perfectly!
