Title: Usually a Storm guy...
Post by: hckyenginr on June 11, 2011, 10:52:52 AM
...but I'm thinking of trying something new. Global is looking good right now, but I know nothing about their products. I'm looking for  a ball that would fit between a prodigy and a virtual gravity nano. Any ideas?

Thanks guys,

Trevor

Bank Pearl or the Nuts when it is released might be 2 other options....

Checked out the above balls, while I was checking out the nuts, I came across another new release..something like the Bank Roll I believe. Looks like a monster, may to take a look at that when it comes out as well.

I would have to think that the Bank Roll and the Nano gotta be fairly close in strength. After thinking about it more I think the Eagle out of all the current releases might be the best fit between the Nano and Prodigy. The Nuts might be a good fit when it comes out but only Britton would probably know the answer to that. PM him and I'm sure he can tell you a lot more than most of us can as he has definitely thrown all the balls in question....

The first ball I would throw from 900 would be Break Out or Eagle. The new nuts is a little longer than Eagle but more motion down the lane.

Well I don't actually have a Nano, I was just giving you guys an area so you could throw some balls out in that range. However, something stronger wouldn't be a bad idea now that I think about it. Do you guys think its going to be a good ball based on their other releases?

Based on the bank and bank pearl I would say its gonna be a good one. Especially if it is a similar cover to the s75 cause that was a really good cover...

i just tried my first global ball this week,it was a bank pearl and i was very pleased with the way it rolled and the hitting power.I think you cant go wrong with one of those if your looking for a good pearl.

That'd be great if you did that. Or at least let me know what you think of them. It'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot for these videos..I completely changed my approach and release to try something new for fun and its something I'm going to stick with. After seeing these, I'm pretty sure the Bank Roll will be in my bag when it comes out.

Sorry for the thread jack, but do you think that the HOOK is close to the Wisdom and the Jewel?  Which ones are stronger?  Apples and oranges?

I know it sounds like I'm in denial, but I'm not.

Hooks will fit under the Wisdom and Jewel. In fact, Hooks will be under the Favorite & Longshot as well. Expect the Hooks to go significantly longer. Depending on the length and volume of oil, I wouldn't expect the Hook to be for fresh conditions. Look for the Hook to be used on 2nd shift conditions. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps

Chris,

Thanks for the input. Have the yellow/orange solid and put a similar layout on it as my favorite. Was looking for this ball to fit in under the favorite and longshot; to use when the favorite starts burning and the longshot won't make the corner as strong. Something that I can go straighter with as opposed to a big out. I have the orange/purple pearl, but want to see what kind of reaction and shape I get from the solid to put holes in it. May not need to drill it. I think re-using the code core was a brilliant idea. How does the orange/yellow solid hook compare to the creature solid?

If I had to select one 900g ball right now it would be the Eagle.  It will eat a THS up, I have mine pin under with the CG kicked out a bit but the MB is back towards the thumb hole. It appears to read the lanes in such a manner as it will not over react in the dry off the oil but will barrel back from the outside if you send it wide. Ball just seems to find the pocket and carry. Had a 300 out of the box with it during the first night of  the summer league. 4 weeks in averaging 230 with it, up 10 pins from the fall season but it's early. Almost had a 2nd 300 with it last week, couldn't carry the 11th and ended up with 289. I plan on ordering a 2nd to place the pin over the fingers to give me a better look in the later games. Best carry and control since I was using an S75. The Eagle is special.

All of the 900g equipment is above average and depending on style and talent you wouldn't go wrong with any of their offerings plus they are some of the best looking balls on the market except for the Eagle but if it scores I don't care what the color is.

An Eagle would be a great choice. That ball is just flat out good. The "nuts" is more long and snappy for sure, I drilled it last night and it has quite a bit of backend motion. If you like the shape of your Nano, but want something a touch weaker, that Raw Profit would be a nice choice also. Hope all of this info on this thread works out for you!
