Video ideas.
« on: December 29, 2018, 08:36:49 PM »
OK, friends. I'm going to be making some videos soon, and instead of just doing some shots of a ball going down the lane, I want to ask what you guys want to see. A whole line comparison? A one take video where there's a whole game shot with no breaks? I may be able to get another staffer involved in it for 2 styles. What do you, my beloved Global lovers, want to see?

How about a video where you miss right and left as well as where your aiming so we can see how they either hold or recover??? Would be a one of a kind video lol

The thing I find most helpful is shot comparison within the product line to see the difference in shape and hook relative to the pattern being used. As for pattern, I think the KEGL challenge patterns are good because they’re a little flatter but very playable for different types of players...everything looks the same on the house china.

It would be extremely helpful if you could include 2 or more players.  Specifically, one being a stroker playing up the boards.  To many videos feature crankers playing the fourth or fifth arrow.  "Straighter is Greater" still applies in today's game.  Us "Old Geezers" ain't dead yet.

I like this too. Even more so than seeing two different people throw (but that's nice too). I'd rather see the actual difference between two pieces thrown during the same session two separate videos in different sessions.

Not sure if you want to do a whole line comparison though. Maybe just a ball that should be above/below or significantly different shapes between a couple others. I'm here for the lengthy videos, but many more are looking for something shorter.

Looking forward to adding another subscription to YouTube. Well, as long as that's where you're hosting the videos at least.

Don’t reinvent the wheel. We all know we like Luke and Tamers reviews. Don’t copy them because that would be bad sport, but use them as templates in a sense. We like to see more than one person/style and we like to see more than just the one ball the video is for. We don’t want loud pointless music. We like useful commentary.

Just have fun with it, I’m sure it’ll be good!

I really dig when people do comparison shots between balls where they line up with the ball the video is for, strike, then throw shots at the same spot with other balls and show the results, then move with the other balls and show the adjustment needed to strike with them. Gives a nice comparison of what to expect difference wise with balls (yes I know some house patterns make it nearly impossible to make balls look different, it's why I don't even try and make videos)

Other than that, just some good camera angles and a narration of what you see in the ball, like Luke and Tamer do, instead of some obscure background music, and you're on your way to a great video.

No funky music please. Narration any day!

Different reving styles like Lane Side Reviews is nice.

A whole line comparison would be nice, especially showing which ball should be used on which angle (inside, outside). Comparing this on different (long, short, flat, etc) oilings is also really helpful.

I'd like to see it on sport shots instead of a wall, different styles of players if u could, and what's the layout and where your trying to play and then compare it to a different ball playing same line

All great feedback, also please include as many close up shots down the lane showing break points down lane and entry angles if possible. We always appreciate well done and informative videos when making decisions on purchases.

Add some comedic value to the vid somehow, even if just a little.  Maybe use a schtick where you drop 1 movie quote, or make a comment about "avoiding wrecking this shim at this surface" or take it old school with something like, "this xyz ball has a nice color pattern and you'll be one Cool Rockin' Daddy on the lanes with this".  Hell, do a shout-out or call-back to something funny on here.

The key is to be subtle and if you do less (by only 1 reference or reoccuring line) you'll do more.

Again, that just my opinion.  Obviously it's a ball review so the focus will be on the ball but I think you'll gain some following if peeps can attribute the "thing" to you.  Whatever it is you'd choose.

Once you're a hit and viral online.....contact me and I'll grant you an interview for my creative brilliance as a director here.  Remember though.......and this is important...........such things do not come cheap!   :P
