Title: What to Expect from Bubblegum Boost
Post by: n00dlejester on June 20, 2017, 08:16:18 AM
I'm getting into Global products these days, and was sold on a Bubblegum boost for later drier conditions/later in blocks/lower volume patterns.

For those that own one, is this ball more than advertised?  I know today's 'lower' end balls seem stronger than advertised and I want to make sure I know that before drilling this one.

Is the Bubble gum one pearl? I love my Boost to get down the lane then flip hard. Wouldn't put it on the dry conditions kind of ball, but it's the closest thing Global has. I've said they need to bring back S30 for burn, but it hasn't happened since the Desert Hook, which most people loved.

Good to know, Doom.  Bubblegum is indeed a pearl ball.  Going long & flipping hard is almost what I want - replace flip hard with 'turns over gently' and I'm sold, lol.  I might put a shorter pin on it to smooth out the flip then.

Thank you.

You can put some surface on it and lay the core down. I was thinking about doing that with a Solid. Mine is drilled 60*5*35, so when it tips, it tips hard.

That's intense right there - it probably pushes nice through the fronts.  That's actual real similar to one of my favorite layouts for both asym & sym cores - 60 x 5.5 x 30.

I was thinking of doing something like a 2.5 inch pin...maybe something like 60* x 2.5 x 45*, and tweak depending on where it puts the pin.

That would work to even it out. Yeah, S43 pearl gets thru the fronts pretty clean. I really like it. I'd recommend an AMF Xcite too. It's basically a Hook, and that was a bit smoother than the Boosts.

I drilled up my Boost.  I put the pin 5 inches from my PAP, and a 3 inch pin buffer.  The ball is smooth and predictable off the end of the pattern, and I'm pleasantly surprised by its continuation through the pins.  It's allergic to anything remotely related to oil too...perfect for what I was looking for.

I'm actually planning on drilling another Boost 60*5*65 and adding some surface. The ball just rolls so good.

Good to hear you like the Bubblegum!!
