Title: Wolverine - Cover stock change
Post by: NY Mike on March 31, 2022, 03:14:09 PM
I am not an owner of the Wolverine but trying to assist a fellow league bowler.  Individual is a recreational bowler with slow ball speed who opted for Wolverine as first new ball in 20+ years.

Question, has anyone knocked off the polish on their Wolverine ?  did it smooth out the ball reaction ?    Individual is having issues with amount of movement his new ball is giving him, issue getting to the pocket consistently and spare shots pulling off his target at last moment.     Thank you in advance for any ideas/thoughts on the issue.

It sounds like they need practice or a lesson.

But yes, surface will smooth it out some. Having slow ball speed, the Wolverine may be a little too strong

Yes.  Anytime you take polish off a ball it will smooth out the reaction.  HOWEVER...bear in mind this also means that the ball will want to start hooking sooner.  So he will still have to adjust his angles a bit but surprised he went with something that strong as his first new ball in such a long time.  I would have suggested something like a Hustle Camo or Raw Hammer.

Yup! I have to agree with your assessment Twohands834! I bowl in a retirees league with quite a few seniors in it and the ball of choice is a Raw Hammer of some kind. There are a couple ladies who throw Hustles but they just don't have the hand to be effective with them. I wonder who this guy talked to before he got his Wolverine?
