The 900Global Altered Reality carries on the success of the original Reality as a big asymmetric that doesn't act like one. This high-performance ball has the same unique shape but is best used on medium to heavy oil. The Altered Reality uses the S84 Response Pearl Coverstock that helps to store energy for the pins. The Disturbance Asymmetric Core is an asymmetric, compact core. This core and cover combination produces a mind-altering backend reaction.

The all new Altered Reality features the Disturbance Core which was found on the original Reality wrapped with the S84 Responsive Pearl Reactive coverstock (pearl version of the Reality cover). This new cover and core combination is a first in the 900 series line and it does not disappoint. The Altered Reality and Reality are great compliments to one another. When the Reality starts to burn up a bit early, I am able to switch to the Altered Reality to maintain similar ball motion in the front part of the lane while creating more pop down lane. The Reality and Altered Reality are an excellent 1-2 punch, go out and get yours today!

Hey everyone, this is Storm staff member Josh Shoemaker here again with another ball review for the Altered Reality. As always, I would like to thank Storm for providing the equipment I use every time I step out onto the lanes and I Am Bowling for making sure I always look good no matter what! Today I will be bowling on a standard medium to higher volume house shot in a new center. This will most likely be where a majority of my videos will be recorded from now on due to myself bowling league here now. As you may have noticed, I have started to branch out in my reviews. From this point forward I will start reviewing balls from all three lines, not just Storm. The Altered Reality features the same disturbance core found in the original Reality, but is now wrapped in the S84 cover. The disturbance core boasts an RG of 2.48, differential of 0.052 and intermediate split of 0.018. The original Reality is less than a year old and has already become a favorite for a ton of league and tournament bowlers alike. The Altered Reality offers the same control and ability to blend as the original Reality, but in a slightly lower friction package. The Altered Reality has been my go to ball for a few months now when the Proton, Reality and RST are slowing down too quickly but the lane isn’t quite defined enough for the UFO Alert. Before the Altered Reality, I had my Dark Code in the same spot in the bag. When I need a little more shape on a softer pattern, I tend to lean more towards the Dark Code. When I want to stay a little closer to the friction and need more closed angles, the Altered Reality is the better option. When compared to the original Reality, the Altered is cleaner and faster to respond to friction downlane. When compared to the UFO Alert, the Altered is earlier and stronger overall. Head over to your local Storm VIP pro shop and grab your very own Altered Reality today!

900 Global Altered Reality
Layout: 4.5 x 4 x 2.5 Storm Vector Layout
Rev Rate: 325 rpm
Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume)
Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center
Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane

The 900 Global Altered Reality utilizes the S84 Response pearl coverstock and proven Disturbance core used in the original Reality.  The Altered has big shoes to follow with the Reality, which I feel is possibly the best ball of 2021.  The Altered Reality has impressed me so far.  It seems that I can get it to the pocket on almost every pattern, which shows its versatility.  The Altered is going to be a great compliment to the Reality.  During testing, Ryan tested it all over the lane.  It showed to be best inside 4th arrow on the house pattern at Fulton Bowling Center.  I think the Altered Reality is in that camp of must have balls.  It will fit the strong asymmetrical ball slot in your tournament bag.  #Stormnation

After the success I had with the original Reality, I knew I had to get the new Altered Reality. Using the same Disturbance Asymmetric Core, wrapped with the S84 Response Pearl coverstock. The Reality was a very strong ball perfect for fresh heavier oil conditions, but once they started to break down, could start to pick up a little soon, enter the Altered Reality. This is the perfect compliment to the Reality, as you could play the same line and continue to move in without sacrificing carry. For me, I could still play inside in the oil and this ball would pick up in the midlane, but still have plenty of backend. Most pearl balls, do not like that pick up enough in the midlane to play the inside oil, but the Altered had no issues. Lastly, the carry on this ball is second to none. The pins stay low, carrying the light mixers as well as the higher flush shots. 900 Global created a fantastic 1-2 punch with the Reality and Altered Reality.

The Altered Reality features the S84 pearl coverstock and strong Disturbance asymmetric core at a 2.49 RG, .052 differential and a .018 intermediate differential, and it’s exactly what you’d expect it to be.  The Altered is reminiscent of the original Reality, just obviously a shiny pearl compliment.  The stronger cover formula still gives you the length and response you want out of something shiny, but adds extra strength and a lot more wet/dry blending.  Because it gets more traction in the oil, it’s not as sensitive to the dry, and this makes the reaction more consistent, it’s not going to really jump on the dry but then get lazy in the oil like lower traction covers can.  It’s the perfect step down from the bigger balls in the lineups like the Reality, Proton PhysiX, and Gem, it’s on par with other stronger pearls like the Dark Code and Parallax Effect, and a step up from the medium strength cover balls like the Rubicon, UFO Alert, RST X2, and Rubicon UC2.  For a more detailed analysis and look at the Altered Reality, follow the link below to see my review!

It didn’t take long to feel those Hyper Cell Fused feelings throwing the new Altered Reality. And for most people who had the chance to throw the Hyper Cell Fused, you will be far from disappointed with this one. Featuring the Disturbance asymmetric core with the S84 Response cover, this is the perfect compliment to the Reality. It’s a pearl big ball, and it acts like one. Strong mid lane motion that doesn’t slow down. I love big pearl assym’s that get up and go, but clear the front section of the lane faster. I love the Reality, but it needs quite a bit of oil to keep it in play. The Altered Reality is almost as strong but will allow you move left further without sacrificing motion through the pins. If you want and like a big 1-2 punch on the higher end of ball reaction, pair up this beast with the Reality and you will be set.

Thanks,

900 Global Altered Reality
Cover: 1500-Polished S84â„¢ Pearl Reactive
Core: Disturbanceâ„¢ (Asymmetrical)
Color: Salmon/Black/Silver

Review:
900 Global really set out a beautiful set of pearl balls. We saw the zen, then burner pearl, then wolverine to fill that gap. Now we have the Altered Reality sitting atop all of those. This ball is a monster pearl, yet still holds the predictability and versatility like we see in the popular original Zen. This ball really holds a lot of energy and continuation through the pins. This core simplistic yet beefy and we love it for that reason. We have seen a lot of success with some cover changes on this ball. 2000-3000 grit pads really change the design and shape for some of our tournament players and compliments their solid original Reality well. We look forward to drilling several of these bowling balls.

If you had the original Reality this is a nice counterpunch to add to the bag. With the S84 pearl coverstock you get some extra length added when lanes begin to transition and still have hard driving continuation through the pins.

LANE CONDITION

Length:41ft

Volume: medium - medium high

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

Likes: I used a 60*4*35 layout on my Altered Reality. This ball compliments my solid asym balls beautifully. Its just clean enough through the fronts and midlane to let me stay in the same zone when the fronts begin to transition. The smoother shape doesnt over react down lane but it still recovers. Compared to my RST-X2 the Altered Reality is earlier and less angle but much stronger overall. I love this asym pearl shape so much. This is definitely a shape all bowlers will enojy and want to have in their bag.

Altered Reality: Cover S84 Pearl 1500 polished
 Core: Disturbance Core
RG: 2.49 Dif. 0.052 PSA: 0.018

Layout: 30 x 3 ¾ x 30, Speed Dominant, Rev Rate 275-325 PAP: 5 ¾ over 1” up.

The new addition to the Reality line up the Altered Reality. I will say this is the 2nd asym pearl ball that I am a huge fan. I like to say that the Altered is a Zen on steroids. Has a very similar ball motion but a stronger backend motion. The Altered has the ball motion and shape that I really like. The cover is strong enough to get through the fronts on fresh conditions and stores enough energy down lane to get through the pins. This is a ball that can be played on various parts of the lane based on your style of play. If you are a fan of the Reality as most PBA players are your going to love the Altered. Another great addition to the Global line up.

900 Global Altered Reality

Core: Disturbanceâ„¢ (Asymmetrical)
Color: Salmon/Black/Silver

Review:
900 Global continues to put out quality equipment that can be enjoyed by all levels of bowlers. That is no different when you look at the Alerted Reality. This ball is a beast. If you take polish off, you get a smooth rolling pearl that can be the first ball out of your bag in some cases. If you leave the polish on you get a strong backend motion from this ball that is great for when the fronts start to burn up. Lower average bowlers will find this to be a great high-end ball that is very controllable for them. While higher average bowlers will find this a great second ball out of the bag when their Reality begins to become to much ball for the lanes. I would suggest everyone have this ball in their bag.

900 Global Altered Reality Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

After having a lot of success with the original Reality, I was excited to see a pearlized version of it called the Altered Reality.  Using the same Disturbance Asymmeetric core as the engine and wrapped with the S84 pearl coverstock, the Altered Reality is a high performance, strong addition to the line and rolls great.  With an RG of 2.49 and differential of .052, I’ve have had a lot of success on medium-longer patterns with a good amount of volume.

I’ve drilled one so far and love it.  I mapped it out as 5 x 4 x 75.  This puts the pin above my middle finger and the mass bias just to the right of my thumb.  The Altered Reality is a perfect compliment to the original Reality, Zen, and Phaze 4.  Because of the big core and low RG, this ball needs some oil on the lane to remain controllable.  I’d recommend using it mainly on medium-longer patterns because of how strong it rolls.

If you need a high performance asymmetrical ball with a pearl cover that never stops down lane and can be used on multiple patterns, the 900 Global Altered Reality should be the next ball you drill!

Layout: 40 x 4 1/2” x 40

The Altered Reality might have the strongest midlane roll of any polished ball that I have ever thrown. Even shiny, this thing gets through the fronts but then absolutely just digs into the middle part of the lane. For me, this makes it plenty of ball to use on a fresh medium oil house shot, and sometimes it is even too much for that! When there is enough oil I can play it straighter, but then the surface does allow me to chase it left without the ball losing too much energy, as long as I follow the oil. Our house does not have a ton of oil, so my arsenal is currently anchored on the top end by this ball, followed by the Phaze 4 and Wolverine. Both of those balls are any easy step down from the Altered Reality.

LANE CONDITION

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Multiple Patterns, Sport and Recreational

COMMENTS

The Altered Reality is a bowling ball that I was very much looking forward to throwing knowing how well the Reality rolled for me. The Altered Reality features a successful and unique Disturbance asymmetric core and the S84 Response Pearl coverstock, which allows the Altered Reality to be cleaner through the front part of the lane.

I drilled my Altered Reality with a pin-up layout, just like my Reality: 60 x 5 1/4 x 40. Even with the cleaner S84 pearl coverstock, this Disturbance core seems to want to roll very early. With the layout that I chose for my Altered Reality, I think this ball is a little bit “in between” for me. It is a little too strong and responsive for me to play straighter angles but also doesn’t have enough continuation for more open angles of play. I would drill another Altered Reality, but with a less flaring layout.

I do believe this Altered Reality looks pretty good when there is a large amount of conditioner in the front/middle part of the lane pattern - like a lot of house shots - or lane surface is quite slick. The Altered Reality also works well on medium and shorter patterns when those patterns break down a little bit. Just like my Reality, the Altered Reality goes through the pins very well.
