I drilled my Favorite 5 ½ x 4 ¾, with the pin over the ring finger.  Very similar to my Long Shot but with a touch stronger cg.  I really liked the way my Long Shot has rolled so far so my goal was to get a similar look through the front part of the lane, but with a little earlier and smoother look down lane due to the stronger solid shell, and the box finish.

I first tried this ball on the 2010 USBC Open pattern on new Pro Anvilane.  The pattern here plays very close to Reno, but with a touch more friction.  This ball rolled perfect on this pattern.  I was able to play around 12-15 at the arrows out to around 6-8 and create a look I didn’t have with anything else on this pattern.

Overall I was only getting about 2 inches of flare in the oil which made for a very unique ball reaction.  Very reminiscent of the old red Pulse or Tour Power.  Easy to get through the fronts, good midlane read due to the stronger shell, and then a smooth continuous backend move.

I also tried threw the Favorite on a fresh house shot on high friction AMF HPL with equally impressive results.  This ball read the lane perfect and allowed me to play wherever I wanted.  It was about 5 and 3 weaker then my Break Out with a similar surface and layout.  The Favorite could be the sleeper ball of the year this year!!!

Bowler Profile: PAP 4 right 0 up
                                     Ball speed 17.5 mph
                                     Rev Rate 307
                                     rotation 45 degree

Drill my favorite up 45x4x45 box condition. I wanted a smooth predictable benchmark ball that would read the mid-lane well and be smooth and continuous on the back-end. What i got was exactly what I was expecting. This ball on a medium wet dry house shot is phenomenal! Response time off the dry boards was slow and smooth. This ball will be great for when those pearl balls just flip off the dry and go too long in the oil. Don't be afraid to throw this ball in its box condition the weak shell and core gets the ball threw the head nicely on med to med-oily conditions. Compared to a Break point pearl drilled 25x4 5/8x 30. The break point pearl goes about 2 feet longer and flip a ton more on the backed. The favorite will be great working lines 15 and out but once thats gone it will set up the deep inside shot for those skid flip balls.

Approach the game with no preset agendas and you''ll probably come away surprised at your overall efforts.

I drilled my Favorite 60x4x50 with a small weight hole 7/8" below my PAP on the VAL.

This ball was meant to become my new benchmark ball, and I just got what I was looking for.
On a medium house shot this ball gets good through the heads, has a nice late midlane read and a strong arc to the pocket off the break point. Even a little carrydown doesn't bother it too much.

Even if the oil gets less over the night this ball will stay predictable and even thou it will read the lanes sooner, it will keep hitting the pins heavy!

Compared to my Maniac with a drilling very close to the one of my Favorite, the Favorite will get further down the lane with less midlane roll and a stronger backend reaction.

Compared to my Lunatic with a more pin up drilling, the Favorite has about the same length and backend strength, but with less over under!

In the end there is another outstanding ball from the Global guys which just replaced my Maniac and Lunatic at once! Well done Global!

900 Global Favorite Review:

First Impressions:
Many asked if it's Urethane because it's a solid black ball.  It's definitely not.  I found this ball to be extremely smooth, yet strong.  For med to med-light conditions, the 2000 grit is a bit much, but a little polish makes it playable.

The Core revs early while the differential gives it a medium reaction overall.
The cover is tweakable.  I tried factory finish polish and extender polish.  Factory polish adds a few feet of length without much change on the backend.  Extender polish made the ball very long with seemingly less backend.

If you are looking for a benchmark ball, the Favorite should definitely be considered.  It is smooth and readable.  In OOB or even factory polish, it seems like it's pretty hard to blow it past the breakpoint.  If you want a ball that covers a ton of boards with a huge side to side reaction and huge entry angles, look elsewhere.  This ball hooks, just not meant to be thrown like a skid/flip ball.
Close up the angles and this ball really carries very well, transferring energy at the pins.

A unique aspect of this ball is that it reacts relatively slowly to the dry.  This ensures it doesn't jump off dry boards.  So if your house has a wall, you can ride the oil line and not worry too much about overreaction in the dry.  In that regard, it's similar to Urethane.  However, it is much stronger that urethane can dream about.  If solid black doesn't bother you, this is a great addition to 900 Global's lineup, putting a benchmark in the middle part of their lineup.

Ball spec's 15.3 2" pin 3.0 top
My profile: speed 14-16mph, power stroker rt hand.

Lane surface overlays and synthetic.

Drilling: 4 x 4 pin down, box finish.

The Favorite is just that.  Drilled 4 x 4, pin down box finish.  Probably the best ball in the line-up for me this year. Even rolling, hard arc, hard hitting ball.  First ball out of the bag on a normal house shot or demanding condition.  Even in the out of box condition the ball can be used on a variety of shots.  Surface can easily be adjusted when needed without sacrificing any reaction or carry.  Ball does carry well - seems to always want to "finish" - no hook set motion to this gem.

This is a must ball for every tournament bowler.  Benchmark ball for 900 Global.

COMMENTS

Likes: Good benchmark ball!  Can read lanes easily with this ball.  Not jumpy off dry and still can muscle medium amounts of oil. Can be used on most league ths all 3 games

Dislikes: Doesn't like much carrydown will slide out.  Mostly its appearance!

LANE CONDITION  Med dry to dry

Length: Long

Volume: light

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Broken down house shot

COMMENTS

Likes: Very smooth rolling ball. Won't jump when it hits dry. Very similar to the Break

Dislikes: None does exactly what I bought it for. When straighter is better conditions warrant or when everything else is jumping this ball is a savior.

COMMENTS

The favorite easily lived up to its name. This ball tends to be one of the first balls out of my bag as a benchmark ball to see what the lanes are doing thanks to this balls easy predictable read. This ball was very easy to drill for myself and customers and it provides plenty of hook and has a very nice retro look appeal. All around it is one of my favorite balls.

I got this ball to even out the wet/dry on ths and to be my first ball out of the bag.    2000 is usually too much surface for me (especially with pin down layouts which mine is) but suprisingly this ball cleared the fronts with no problem. This ball is strong on the backened also as long as they're relatively clean, but the move is very predictable. This ball also accepts surface adjustments as well. I've had it at 2000no polish 2000 polish and 4000 polish and the overall look downlane remained the same. On flatter patterns this ball will keep you out of trouble first game or two until they break down and its time to get in and open em up a little. Overall very solid ball and exactly what i expected. Thinking of adding a polished pin-up Favorite to my arsenal considering how cheap they are.

After being on Hammer staff for 9 years. I was anxiously awaiting the chance to throw some different cores and covers.  My first chance was this past weekend in a PBA regional event on Viper at South Point Las Vegas. The Favorite was the first ball out of the bag.  This let me smooth off the backend reaction to make it more readable and predictable on the shorter pattern.  As the lanes broke down and i had to chase them further in. The Favorite still had more than enough pop to it in the back end. Sunday the pattern played further right as during matchplay you get to play the pattern as opposed to the field and what they are doing the lanes.  The Favorite was still the ball of choice as it allowed me to keep my angles narrow. The ball still cleared the front very easily and smoothed off the backend once again .  This will definitely be the first ball out my bag for now on.  The Favorite gives you a gread read of the lanes. The ball goes through the pins exactly how you want a ball to.  It finishes over the 8 pin spot repeatedly .  The name for this ball fits perfectly.  Thanks to Eric Thomas and 900 Global for all the help.
