Title: Chemical X
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on July 07, 2015, 09:48:14 AM
Description: The 900Global Chemical X bowling ball was created with tournament bowlers in mind.  This ball takes the symmetric Pod core and combines it with the S55 Solid coverstock to create a ball reaction that is needed on those tough and flat tournament conditions.  This is done by the solid coverstock offering steady and sure-fire friction with the core providing a composed flare and easy transition on medium oil conditions.
Features:

- Color: Slate/Lemon-Lime
- Coverstock: S55 Solid
- Finish: 4000 Grit
- Core: Pod asymmetric
- RG: 2.49 (15# ball)
- Diff: 0.035 (15# ball)
- Recommended Lane Condition:  Medium Oil

Chemical X:

Drilled pin down below bridge putting the pin to pap distance at 4 1/2 for me.
Have only tested this ball on the IB Open 2015 pattern, was able to ball down to this ball on the 46 foot pattern once the lanes broke down a little bit. This ball is very smooth and has a nice controlled arc throughout the lane. Left the Chemical X at OOB which is 4000 grit and already can see that this will be a great tournament ball and also league ball with how smooth it is. Will be able to combat any wet/dry conditions with the Chemical X. Should be a great ball to add to anyone's tournament bag and will most likely be the 2nd or 3rd ball out of your bag.

COMMENTS
Out of the fall 2015 releases, this is the one that I was anticipating the most. With the new Tour Preferred Series, 900 Global brings us the Chemical X. I felt that there was a gap between the Break Down and Boost. The Chemical X definitely fills this void for me. When I need a ball to read the midlane and still have a smooth arc to the pocket, this is it. The Chemical X is like the Break Down, but has a touch more midlane read and a little more on the backend. It's not a huge backending ball, but it definitely doesn't quit once it encounters dry. I saw this ball as a benchmark type ball. Easily used on fresh and when the heads start to read early, I can maintain the line with the Break Down. It will definitely keep you out of trouble and with its backend reaction. Very predictable. One of the best characteristics is its amazing carry for a medium ball. Pins do not stand a chance. The Chemical X is very similar to the Favorite, Sure Thing, or AMF King Cobra (remake). This is definitely one ball that will be a hard one to get out of my hands.

Speed    17-18 MPH
Rev rate   450
PAP   4-7/8 and 1/3 up
Axis Tilt   15 degrees
Axis Rotation   30 degrees
Chemical-X   40x4.5x35
The Chemical-X is a very interesting ball for me. This is one of the smoother overall balls in the new lineup from 900 Global. It comes at 4000 OOB and that allows the ball to read a bit in the oil, but it still has a tame downlane ball reaction while retaining good hitting power. I think this ball will be great on tougher lane conditions. When your angles have to be smaller, and you need to keep the ball in front of you, the Chemical-X will allow you to have a predictable ball reaction. Overall, just a really solid benchmark ball when the lanes do not give you a lot of miss room.

Chemical X
Coverstock: S55â„¢ Solid
Finish: 4000 Grit
Color: Slate/Lemon-Lime
Core: Podâ„¢ Symmetric
Tour Preferred
2.49 Radius of gyration
.035 Differential
Positive Axis Point 5 7/16 by 1/4 up
Layout 5 3/4 x 3 1/2 x 2 3/4

The new CHEMICAL X by 900 Global is going to be one of my favorites down the road because of its nice smooth ball reaction from start to finish.  This ball reminds me of the previous released ALL DAY with the only difference being a little earlier in the front part of the lane with a slightly smoother mid-lane and back end reaction down lane. You can't go wrong with this ball on  those wet-dry house shots and those fresh medium length sport patterns. This will be a popular ball with its mid price point and cool looks.  Everyone should get one of these CHEMICAL X's if you want performance for YOUR game.

Chemical X
Coverstock: S55â„¢ Solid
Finish: 4000 Grit
Color: Slate/Lemon-Lime
Core: Podâ„¢ Symmetric
Tour Preferred
2.49 Radius of gyration
.035 Differential

The Chemical X is the 2nd of two new releases in the all new Tour Series line. The Chemical X has the S55 solids cover with a new Low RG and low diff Pod symmetric core. This ball immediately screams benchmark every time I throw it. I have mine drilled pin 4 3/4 off axis. The pin is in the middle finger, no xtra hole. This ball gives a true read of numerous fresh medium to short patterns. It also blends out broken down longer patterns when you need a smoother reaction. This ball for me is a tad sooner and smoother than the all day OOB. When shining the surface it does wake up the down lane motion. This ball will always be the first out of the bag. Gives a nice true smooth reaction throughout the body of the lane. When needing a ball to cover many patterns that gives a smoother reaction, this is the one. Please let me know if you have any questions.

LANE CONDITION

Layout 4x4x2
PAP:  3 right, 1.25 up
About the ball…
The Chemical X is the strong, controllable ball that you need to complete a tactical strike on the pin deck. With its 4000 Grit matte finished S55 Solid coverstock, blending the different parts of the lane is easy work.
The new Pod Symmetric core has a differential of 0.035 which offers medium flare in order to keep the backend controllable and make adjustments simple.
My opinions…
This Chemical X offers a strong controllable reaction.  The ball has a great mid lane read and strong transition through the pin deck on both sport and the typical house shot lane conditions.  The Chemical X is not going to flip or over re-act off the dry.  The ball takes surface changes very well.  Taking the surface to 2000 will give you a little more mid lane read and better control of the pocket.   When the lanes get tough this ball will help you keep striking when others are not.

The Chemical X is a smooth rolling ball with a S55 solid cover stock. I have mine drilled pin above the ring finger with the cg kicked out at 5 o'clock from there.  The pin is a 4 inch pin.  I bowl on a typical house shot.

The Chemical X is a great complement to the Breakdown.  The Chemical X had more mid-lane than the Breakdown, but still got through the front easily.  When I missed a little right it had no problem getting back to the pocket without any over reaction.  The Chemical X hooked 3 boards more than the Breakdown, which is due to the S70 cover stock vs. the Chemical X S55.  Both balls carry well with a slightly different shape going down the lane.  When looking for some "Performance for your game".  The Chemical X will be a great addition to your arsenal!  Rich Miller 900 Global Regional Staffer.

Chemical X
The Chemical X is a great ball for a smooth controllable reaction.  When the lanes are spotty, I can use the Chemical X to get a consistent reaction without the over-reaction.  I bowl in a center with no climate control (other than doors open on each end to let in some air), so the lane conditions vary drastically depending on weather conditions.  This is my first ball out of the bag to gauge the conditions and usually the ball I stay with due to the sometimes drastic changes throughout the set.

Drilled my ChemicalX with pin in the ring finger and cg kicked out 2". This ball is probably the smoothest rolling ball that 900Global has produced. WITH THE 4000 grit finish out of the box it clears the heads really well then reads the mid-lane and starts into a arcing motion without jumping of the spot. I have used this ball on fresh and it really calms the backend down without stopping. Ball rolled smooth even on sport patterns. Thanks to TJ nad the 900Global staff for another great product.

Chemical X
Drilled - 35x5x60 Dual angle layout

This ball has become one of my favorites. It is very controllable. This ball has great mid lane roll and smooth back end. It is definitely a ball you can play up the boards with and keep your target in front of you. It works really well on wet dry conditions. This ball is versatile on sports patterns. Lengths of 38 to 44 ft. This ball has great pin carry and keeping pins low. Great benchmark ball for all conditions and all bowlers.

The Chemical X is the ball that I use when the lanes are spotty and hard to read.
The Chemical X is a medium ball all the way around, it’s the kind of ball you need when the lanes are tough and hard to control. This ball has a very even type roll from the release to the pins. For me this is my benchmark ball. I can read the lane surface easily
by watching the ball reaction of the Chemical X. Drilled mine up 4-1/2 inch pin to pap
3-3/8 psa to pap and a 2-7/8 pin buffer. First ball out of the bag for me. Get an A in chemistry try one.

Tournament of Champions Pattern
Kegel Main Street

I took the new the 900Global Chemical X to a PBA qualifier on the TOC pattern. After throwing my Break Down and the Chemical X both in practice I decided to start out the fresh with the Chemical X. The Chemical X S55 Cover at 4000 gave me a sooner mid-lane read, but a little more of that strong arcing motion to the pocket. This allowed me to keep it in play as it also gave me enough recovery on slight misses to stay out of trouble. On the house pattern, I decided to see how the Chem X would handle a surface adjustment.  I used VISE compound with a soft buff, this gave me a little more length as you would expect, but most impressive was that it still maintains that strong arcing motion.  The continuation through the pocket leaves no pins in sight and that versatility will allow it to fit any bowler. This ball will not only come out of your bag on the tougher tournament style patterns but its smoothness will be a surefire winner in your leagues as well. The Chem X is that go to ball at a mid-level price that is sure to fit in your arsenal.  Get yours today and release a little Chemical X on the pins and your opponents. 900Global “Performance for YOUR Game”

900 Global Chemical X

Layout: 55 x 4-1/4 x 60
Oil Pattern: 40' with 25ML THS
Lane Surface: Wood
Bowler Specs: 330 Rev Rate 17 MPH 22* Tilt 66* Rotation
PAP: 5-3/8 over 1/2 up

Review:

The Pod Symmetric core is a great shape that gives tons of control. I drilled the Chemical X with a smooth transition in mind and it gave me exactly what I was hoping for. Smooth early roll, strong arcing mid lane motion and tons of control on the back end. Very nearly a urethane type motion but with the pop of reactive resin. This ball was designed for tournament use mostly and will be in my bag whenever I bowl on more difficult conditions. It is a great compliment to my Break Down on tighter and shorter patterns.

My Review of the 900 Global Chemical X
This ball I went with very simple basic layout pin up between the fingers drilling. I was very surprised to see how predictable this ball is not overly strong more for medium to possibly heavier lane conditions pending on the layout. This ball seems to really excel for me on tougher patterns where I need something to read the lane early and be very smooth and predictable off the end of the pattern.

Summary: I suggest this ball for anyone looking for very predictable reaction and smooth rolling ball for tougher lane conditions

CHEMICAL X
Drilling: 5 x 4 x 4 ¼
Finish: Box Finish, 4000 Grit
Speed – 15.5-16.5 MPH
PAP – 5 1/4 & 7/8 up
As I have said before, I am a huge fan of Symmetrical balls and this one is no different.  Looking at this ball one would think you wouldn’t be able to throw it on most patterns unless there is a puddle of oil.  It has a lot of tread under the 4000 top finish.  For me I am able to throw it on multiple patterns.  It doesn’t want to burn up early, it picks up the mid-lane and continues very well.  Fresh patterns ultimately seem to be the best as it tames down those crisp backends and blends the pattern nicely.  Very smooth but strong off the end of the pattern and keeps the pins low and gives me better carry percentage.  Just another great benchmark and will be used on multiple patterns.  Those with more Revs, can smooth out the finish or even polish it, I think this is a great addition!

Layout: 40 x 4 1/2 x 50

This is a unique piece for this seasons line up. When I first saw the core/cover numbers of this release I was curious where it would actually stand reaction wise. I never had a Favorite before but was a huge fan of the King Cobra. With that being said I based my review against the King Cobra and Breakdown.

OOB the Chemical X is really an early rolling piece that will not over react off the dry. With the addition of the Tour Line this season, you can really see what the designers are trying to add to the 900 global product line. I decided to play with the surface to see if I could find a good fit for my bag. The best reaction I saw was when i took the cover down to 500, 100, 2000, 4000. This prevented the ball from rolling to early and reading the lane better.

Comparing this ball to the King Cobra, while it has the same cover it is a completely different reaction. I feel that the Chemical X digs into the mid lane a lot earlier and is smoother off the break point. Comparing the X to the Breakdown I see a lot of overlap between the 2. It would basically boil down to the user preferring Asymmetric vs Symmetric pieces.

All in all if you are looking for a smooth rolling piece for your "tournament bag" than give this one a look. Personally this one was tough to match up to and I am a fan of the Breakdown anyways. I will certainly bring it to longer format tournaments because I can see the benefits but not during standard league play.

REVIEW:

This is one of the most Smooth and one the ROLLIEST balls I have ever thrown.  This is definitely a ball you would want to use on the fresh.  This ball allows me to play straighter more on the track part of the lane, and when you have to start adjusting to the transition you wont have to make big moves.  You will be able to make small moves with your feet, along with tighter lines toward the pocket.  This ball will be in my bag for every tournament I go to, a simply must have for the tournament bowler

EXTREMELY predictable
controlled motion

This is the first sanded reactive ball in the new Tour Preferred Series. It uses the S55 cover and the Pod core system. This is a ball that will fit in most players bag. It is a perfect benchmark ball. I used a 60x4 1/2x65 layout on the Chemical X

Bowling on a 40 foot medium volume oil house shot, the Chemical X has a very predictable ball motion. It allowed me to attack the pattern from a more direct angle.  As the pattern broke down I was still able to use the Chemical X and it gave me more of a strong arcing motion on the back.  Pin carry was also great with the Chemical X.

For those who are looking for a good benchmark ball that will be usable on a variety of medium to heavy oil patterns, I would strongly recommend the Chemical X.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 38-42ft

Volume:varies

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes: Continuous roll, smooth even roll

The Chemical X is my favorite ball in my arsenal. This is a go to ball for THS conditions and when the lanes become squirrely. The smooth strong reaction of the Chemical X through the mid lane and continues with energy through the deck. On the THS if I leak the ball to the dry early it will not over react and still retains enough to carry the corners.

900 Global Chemical X
#15.3
3" pin
3.5 oz top

Rt. hand
14-15 mph
PAP 4 9/16

Drilling: 5 X 4, pin up, surface 4000.
Volume 38-41ft
THS, Kegel Challenge Series, Sport

Chemical X - if you liked the Favorite you'll love the Chemical X!  Drilled it pin up, 5 x 4, cg inside grip, left it in out of box 4000 surface.  This one is a touch smoother than the Favorite for those who remember that gem and it's reaction.  Revs up but smooth off the spot but really finishes through the pins.  Was impressive for a ball with surface.  Really did hold its revs and stay consistent no matter any differences in release.  Impressed with the versatility of the ball.  Could use it on THS for all 3 games 701 1st night.  Deeper I moved ball still cornered enough to carry.  This is easily a benchmark ball or 1st out of the bag.  Excellent bang for the buck here.  Don't let the S55 cover number fool you, its aggressive enough for medium to heavy depending on speed.  Would love to see this in a pearl version!  I tip my hat to 900 Global on this nugget.

S55 solid coverstock @ 4000-grit abralon
Pod symmetric core
layout 60x5.5"x40
weighthole above PAP
RG 2.49
Diff .035
Pin 3"

From 900 Global, the Chemical X is a supurb ball for the flatter, medium conditions you'll most likely encounter at tourneys. It also performs well on broken-down THS when you need to trudge through the spotty over/under conditions, smash the pocket and still continue through the pocket. Very reliable, predictable motion off the backend and is smooth to boot! Would also recommend this ball for some down-&-in action on a medium-heavy fresh pattern.

Coverstock: S55 Solid
Finish: 4000 Grit
Core: Pod Symmetric
Layout: 85 x 3 7/8 x 75
Oil Pattern: USBC White 2
Pin Placement: Below ring finger

Ball was used during our local association tournament on a surface with a lot of friction and this particular White pattern played very wet/dry from the start. After practice and watching others struggle with finding a motion to smooth out the wet/dry, I used the Chemical X to do just that. The ball gives a very predictable, smooth motion and does not overreact if thrown in the dry. The ball reads the mid-lane very well and has a very continuous motion through the pins which provided vastly improved carry. All in all, as others have said, this is a great benchmark ball that can be used on a multitude of oil patterns.
