Eternity Pearl
« on: February 10, 2023, 10:12:46 AM »
The 900Global Eternity high-performance bowling ball was designed to expand upon the shapes offered by the Reality and Zen high-performance balls. The S84 Response Pearl Reactive coverstock on this ball has the capability of being fine-tuned to match a variety of oil conditions. The technology used on this coverstock helps the ball get through the front part of the lane but also dig into the oil, unlike other pearl coverstocks. The Epoch asymmetric core introduced in this ball offers ease and aggressiveness. This high-performance ball was designed for heavy oil conditions.

900 Global Eternity
Coverstock: S84 Response Pearl Reactive
Box Finish: Reacta Gloss
Core: Epoch Asymmetric Core
RG: 2.49, Diff: 0.050, PSA: 0.014 (15 lbs)
VLS Layout: 4 3/4 x 4 x 3 1/2
Dual Angle Layout: 50 x 4 3/4 x 55
PAP: 5 3/16” right x 5/8” up
Rev rate: 400 rpm
Average speed: 16.5 mph
Location: Prairie Lanes, Sun Prairie, WI
Pattern: Medium volume THS

The Eternity is 900 Global’s new big asymmetric ball in the 900 series line.  It features the S84 Response pearl reactive cover that comes with the Reacta Gloss finish, which is the same coverstock formula from the Altered Reality.  The core is the new Epoch core that is derived from the original Break core and is supposed to help keep the ball from losing too much energy and maintain a sharp backend reaction.

As I often do with balls that have a shiny finish from the factory, I scuffed the surface with an old 2000-grit Abralon pad just to crack the cover a bit.  The Eternity has proven to be an excellent ball that I can throw on all but the oiliest or driest conditions.  I’ve found the Eternity to be clean and very readable in the midlane, and that it stores enough energy to be sharp but not too jumpy off the end of the pattern.  It’s a perfect step down from the Reality when you need something cleaner and quicker downlane, but is a much stronger pearl than a ball like the Wolverine Dark Moss.  Overall, the Eternity offers a strong, readable reaction that I can use for the entire night in league even as the lanes go through transition.

The folks over at 900 Global have done an outstanding job with designing this ball.  If you’re looking for the closest thing to replace an Altered Reality – look no further than the Eternity!

900 Global Eternity
Coverstock: S84 Response Pearl Reactive
Core: Epoch
Factory Finish: Reacta Gloss
Layout: 4 x 4 x 2

I waited a bit too long to drill the Eternity. I had a couple Altered Reality balls I really liked and figured I was covered. With Nationals coming up, I decided to drill the Eternity to see if I could find a shiny, fairly stable asymmetrical piece for the bag. I am quite happy I did. I put a bit stronger 4 inch pin on this Eternity and it has a clean, stable feel on the lane. It is not as jumpy and angular as the Altered so it will be very useful. I have thrown it on house, longer sport, and shorter sport patterns and it has looked great on each. I feel like I can tumble it on the fresh and then get around it a bit more and just chase it left without the ball getting too far forward as the lane transitions. I think this is easily a ball to slot under the Reality and Gems for that step-down shiny asymmetrical ball.

The New Asymmetrical Pearl in the 900 Global line is the Eternity Pearl.  The Eternity Pearl is a replacement for the Altered Reality that was part of the USBC hardness issue.
I drilled my Eternity Pearl pin up with a 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 layout.  I also hit the surface with a 500/1000 pads and added Storm Step 2.  Reacta Gloss really doesnt match up with my ball roll.  Step 2 has always been very consistent for me.  Compared to the Altered the Eternity Pearl is a little cleaner and doesnt get as forward coming out of the midlane and back like the Altered did.  Eternity has more shape downlane.
So when the bigger solid Asyms start to labor a little like the Gem or Reality the Eternity Pearl is very good option.  At my shop I suggest for bowlers to just pick their favorite drilling on this one as I think its that good of a ball. All of my customers really like the motion.  I like it also and it just seems to carry very well with keeping the pins low.  Great addition for the 900 Global line!

900 Global Eternity
Layout: 4 ½ x 4 x 2 Pin Up
Bowlers PAP: 4 13/16” Over 11/16” Up
Rev Rate 400 Rpm
The Eternity is a true game-changer, offering impressive performance and versatility on the lanes. First and foremost, the Eternity boasts exceptional backend reaction and hitting power. Its S84 Response Pearl cover-stock combined with the Epoch Asymmetric core provides a deadly combination of length, strong mid-lane read, and explosive backend motion. The ball effortlessly cuts through the oil, maintaining ample energy for a powerful and angular entry into the pocket. Pin carry with the Eternity is remarkable, resulting in improved pin action and higher scores. Whether I was facing heavy oil patterns or medium to drier lanes, this ball allowed me to make confident adjustments and find the right line. Its aesthetically pleasing design with a vibrant color scheme of purple/pink, black and silver gives me altered reality vibes which also makes it visually appealing on the racks. In conclusion, the 900 Global Eternity bowling ball is a remarkable piece of equipment that lives up to its name. If you loved the Altered Reality this is a definite must in your bag. Whether you're a competitive bowler or a dedicated enthusiast looking for a high-performance ball, the Eternity is an excellent choice. Unleash your potential with the 900 Global Eternity!

I am a higher speed, rev challenged 220-250ish, high tilt, high rotation, and super low track player, I drilled my 900 Global Eternity 5x3x2 using the Storm VLS and my axis point is 3 ¼ right and 7/8 up. I immediately changed the cover by hitting the ball with 360, 1000, and step 2 polish. The 900 Global Eternity for me is very clean and not as strong as I would have predicted. However, I did drill a 14lbs ball equating to a higher RG and smaller diff, which does not serve me well. If I were to drill another ball I would consider drilling a 15lbs ball, so I can get the benefits of the lower RG and bigger Diff. Overall, the ball is responsive and I see myself using this on Medium to lower volumes of oil.
My YouTube video of the ball can be found at:  https://youtu.be/7p50MF0DME8

Review:
I was looking forward to having a big pearl asymm hit the 900 shelves. The Eternity was the perfect answer to what I was looking for and for many others as well. The Eternity is a perfect step down from the Reality which we have all grown to love and has been an essential piece in many people’s bag, adding as a necessity for the desired arsenal. When I got my hands on this ball, everything that I heard and had seen come from this ball lived up to be true. Is it clean through the fronts? Yes. Does it  read the midlane? Yes, even with the reacta gloss finish. Does it provide a strong backend reaction? Yes. Lastly, can this ball be predictable? Thankfully, I have found this ball to be very predictable and you can easily play different parts of the lane with it. Again, it is a perfect step down from the Reality or any big asymm balls like the DNA or Gem. I have also found that the Eternity is a bit rounder than the Exotic Gem. The Exotic likes to roll heavy through the lane, so if you are looking for something that is just a tad weaker, the Eternity would be the better option.
When I threw the ball, it did exactly what I expected it to do, which does not always happen with every ball. Any adjustments I made with targeting or my hand, the ball responded to those changes, I did not notice much over/under with this ball. Pearl asymms can tend to show that for me personally, so I end up taking off the gloss or altering the surface to what I need to put it to. Thankfully, as someone who loves reacta gloss, I am able to keep that finish on the ball. Lastly, the ball hits like a truck when it hits the pins!

Summary:
Overall, this ball gets an A plus! (A+) The Eternity is very clean through the fronts and gives a strong backend motion being a pearl asymmetrical ball! If you notice any over/under motion, hit it with a little bit of surface and it will create a little bit more pop hitting the dry. To compare to other equipment, the Eternity is a good step up from bowling balls such as the Phaze 2, TNT, or Zen Soul, and is a good step down from bowling balls such as the Gem, DNA, and the Reality. This ball loves oil and friction if you get it to the right zone. I would recommend a stronger Pin buffer or Val angle to utilize the responsiveness of the Eternity. For the Pin-to-PAP and PSA-to-PAP, I recommend stronger angles/arcs if you want the ball to read the mids sooner, and longer angles/arcs if you want the ball to skid further down the lane!
