Title: Wolverine Dark Moss
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on September 16, 2022, 04:29:00 PM
The Wolverine is back! The 900Global Wolverine Dark Moss is ready to attack with its versatile S70 Pearl coverstock and Lacerate 2.0 weight block. This ball will tear up some oil without sacrificing backend. The Lacerate 2.0 core changes direction quickly making it ideal for bowlers that want to move in and open their angles. The S70 Pearl coverstock will sneak through the front of the lane and tear up the backend on medium oil conditions.

Color: Dark Moss

Coverstock: S70 Pearl Reactive
RG: 2.54 (15# ball)

The Dark Moss is a GREAT come back from the original wolverine! Compared to the original, from what I have seen on my "house patterns" is as follows. It does read a little sooner, plus it has a touch bit more on the back end. When I got the original Wolverine, yes I did hit it with a 4000 pad. The Dark Moss, I left right out of the box. It did what I wanted it to do. Now 2 leagues I bowl in one house with synthetic lanes, its a mid 2nd game - 3rd game ball, depends on who plays where on the other team lol! Now one house I bowl at has wooden lanes, and yes for me, the Dark Moss is the 1st ball in my hands. I can play 3rd arrow out to 8-10 at the break point and it reacts great on the wooden lanes! Hope all helps! It's a great ball!

The Wolverine Dark Moss is the latest addition to the 900 Global line.  The biggest difference between the Dark Moss and the original Wolverine is the coverstock.  The Dark Moss has a pearl coverstock (S70 cover) and uses the same engine as the original Wolverine (Lacerate 2.0).  After drilling one so far, the Dark Moss is clean and whippy down-lane.  With an RG of 2.54 and differential of .053, the Dark Moss is designed to be used when there's a good amount of friction, when the earlier balls (Zen Master, Gem, Infinite Physix) are too strong, and when straighter players want to keep their angles in front of them.

I've drilled one Dark Moss so far and love it.  I drilled it the same way as my original Wolverine (5 x 4).  This puts the pin above my bridge and the CG is slightly kicked.  I haven't changed the surface at all and just let lane shine change the cover.  I've had a lot of success during league when there's a good amount of friction as well as on patterns when I need to open up my angles.

If you're missing a ball that can fit any players game and can be used from angles all over the lane, the Dark Moss should be the next ball you drill!

Wolverine Dark Moss • 700 Series
Core • Lacerate 2.0
Coverstock • S70 Pearl • Finish 4K - Fast
Weight • 15 lbs. RG • 2.54 Differential • .053
Layout •4 x 5 x 2.5
Tester PAP • 5” R, 5/8” D Tester Axis Tilt • 11° Testers Rev Rate • 325
Test Pattern • 42’ THS (Typical House Shot) • Modified, Kegel Stone Street

With the release of the Wolverine Dark Moss, 900 Global has once again cemented its legacy of producing top-quality, competitive bowling balls at a reasonable price! The Lacerate 2.0 Core and the S70 Pearl Reactive cover make the Wolverine Dark Moss an excellent choice for many styles of bowlers, especially for down and in players like me. So, let’s take a closer look.

The Lacerate 2.0 Core is a unique new core design that delivers a crisp yet predictable motion you can rely on shot after shot. I like how 900 Global combined the cores from the Honey Badger and Badger lines that produced the Lacerate 2.0 Core. Because I found the Lacerate 2.0 to be vibrant and lively through the mid-lane while creating a firm and crisp turn-off the pattern, I can rely on it no matter where I played on the lane. Further, I found whether I played straight up the second arrow or moved my angles in, I could count on the Lacerate 2.0 Core to deliver a powerful impact at the pins. And have a continuation through the deck that rivals some larger Asymmetrical cores.

The S70 Peal Reactive Coverstock was the right choice to wrap around the Lacerate 2.0 Core. And changing the surface to 2000 grit, Abralon made this cover perform brilliantly for me. I loved how this cover allowed me to clear the heads all night long on a THS easily. The S70 Pearl rolled with a smooth and methodical motion in the mid-lane. And I liked how it waited for friction to make it move. And when it makes its exit off the pattern, the S70 Pearl delivers a crisp and precise motion all night long. Even after the conditions started to break down, the S70 Pearl stayed consistent without “jumping” or overreacting to the wet/dry condition.

In conclusion, the Wolverine Dark Moss is an excellent release by 900 Global. For down and in seasoned players like me, the Wolverine Dark Moss will deliver excellent results night after night. And if you are the typical weekly bowler looking for a perfect ball to last you through the season, the 900 Global Dark Moss is your ticket to success. The Wolverine Dark Moss rolls like a top-level ball at a mid-level price, and that is a winning combination! So see your local pro shop operator today and have your Wolverine Dark Moss ready for tonight’s league. You will be glad you did!

I absolutely loved the original Wolverine, so I was very happy to see the Dark Moss coming out as a replacement. They are very similar, but the surface change on the Dark Moss (4000 grit instead of 1500 plus polish) does create a smoother roll. I see the same elements in both Wolverines – a very versatile ball that can cover medium-heavy to medium-dry lane conditions.  The reaction is a hard arc, but not flippy. The easiest comparison is to the Idol Cosmos, which is a bit earlier and a touch stronger overall than the Dark Moss.

The 900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss features the S70 Pearl Reactive coverstock wrapped around the Lacerate 2.0 Symmetric core.  The RG at 15lbs is 2.54 and the differential is .053.  This ball fills a gap that I have been looking to fill for quite some time.  The Dark Moss is great for any patterns where there is a good amount of friction. The ball is super clean and has a medium response time. For me, this ball is just throw it right and watch it go left.  There is no quit in this wolverine.  In comparison to the original Wolverine, the Dark Moss hooks a little earlier than the original…maybe about a two to three board difference.   If the lane has a friction spot to throw to, this ball will be in its glory.

Wolverine Dark Moss - WWRD 7/29/2022

This is a good piece for Medium Oil patterns. The Wolverine Dark Moss is clean through the fronts with a continuous backend motion. Good piece for in the middle of the block when you need the ball to get through the fronts and strong continuation on the backend to get the corner out. Also, you can move in and open your angles. This is overall about 0-2 more than the Original Wolverine. This is a good versatile piece to have in your bag.

Wolverine dark moss !!!!!!!! WOW !!! I was in love last year with the original version and it's the same thing again.
i have drilled mine 65x5 1/8x35.
The DM is a little bit aggressive on the triangle entry than the first one. It give me the opportunity to go really further at my left. I can loft the gutter and It never not enought far for the punch at the end of the lane. It's my best solution to pass the breakpoint when it's become dryer.
I can also play a straight line in front of me when the lane have litlle more oil like at the end of league night or a dryer bowling center. It's a great option for the player who don't have a lot of speed; she will give you a chance to keep on the good side.
I will used it a lot this year for sure !!!!  #strikingworldwide

The 900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss utilizes the S70 pearl coverstock and proven Lacerate 2.0 weight block.  The Lacerate 2.0 is a combination of the cores used in the popular Honey Badger and Badger.  How could you go wrong? I tested the Wolverine Dark Moss on the pair I bowled a 4-game set on.  The lanes were a little tricky with OB outside and hooking break point spot once the lanes transitioned so it wasn’t ideal testing conditions.  However, the Dark Moss did perform well once I got these old bones doing the correct things.  I ended up being lined up where I finished with the Storm Infinite Physix in league.  I am not saying the Dark Moss is as strong as the Infinite Physix but the lane conditions played that way.  In addition, I left the 4K-Fast finish on the Dark Moss and shined the Infinite Physix so that played a role in playing the two balls in the same area.  Remember – ball surface plays a big role in ball reaction.  If you don’t believe me, try it sometime.  The best feature with the first time throwing the Dark Moss was the carry and the way it went through the pocket.  I am going to put a Reacta Shine on my Dark Moss and use it late in tournaments as I believe that was the design intentions of the team.   #Stormnation

The Wolverine Dark Moss is a monster…hands down! This ball has the makings of having a spot in my tournament bag for a long time. Having the 4K Fast finish on it gives me the opportunity to attack the middle of the lanes during the latter portion of a block and also gives me the chance to use it on the fresh in a heavy friction house. This ball DEFINITELY gets a 5 star rating from me: a monster with teeth! Check out the Wolverine Dark Moss at your local pro shop!

900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss
Cover: 4k Fast S70â„¢ Pearl Reactive
Core: Lacerate 2.0â„¢ (Symmetrical)
Color: Dark Moss

Review:
This ball has the same specs as the Wolverine that is no longer allowed by USBC and WE LOVE IT. 900 Global really set the mark for symmetric pearls with the popularity of the original Zen. This ball really fills the gap between the Zen and Burner Pearl, almost mimicking hy-road pearl vibes. We are hoping no one overlooks this ball as it really packs a similar punch to the Zen, and yes it is that good. The Wolverine is great late in blocks if your Asym pearl is too much, or if you need to step down from a solid or hybrid cover and want to keep your feet in a similar position. One thing that really stands out and why we compare it to the hy-road pearl is the continuation is incredible and does really seem like it is on a higher level than other bowling balls.

900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss
Coverstock: S70 Pearl
Core: Lacerate 2.0
Layout: 5 x 4 x 2

First, I didn’t drill an original Wolverine. I drilled my Dark Moss a pretty standard 5 x 4 x 2 pin up. I did not like the 4k fast finish out of box so I almost immediately hit it with polish and it came alive. This ball really likes to open up the lane as a transitional option in the mid to latter part of league or tournament block when you need a bit longer look than the Zen. Often, a Hustle, Hyped, or Electrify are a bit too long and this ball really fills that stronger/longer gap. It’s also quite the looker with polish on it! Reminds me of the Emerald IQ!

The Wolverine Dark Moss features the S70 Pearl coverstock at a 4K Fast finish, and the Lacerate 2.0 core at a 2.54 RG, and .053 differential in 15 pounds.  Basically, the Dark Moss IS the original Wolverine in a different color with a slightly different box surface.  The result when comparing the box surface Wolverine to the box surface Dark Moss is of course that the Dark Moss is earlier, stronger, and smoother, however, when compared at the same surface, the comparison remains, BUT is a very marginal difference.  Colors do actually factor into ball reaction, however minimally, but just like the IQ Emerald was generally considered to be earlier and smoother than the original IQ Tour Pearl (Gold Ball), the Dark Moss is also generally a little earlier and smoother than the original Wolverine when all other things are the same.  It remains a great option in the middle of the lineup, as it’s similar strength to the Hyroad line but with a stronger core to boost the overall strength, rev faster, and roll stronger, but isn’t as strong as the Phaze 3 or Zen.  It perfectly fills the gap between the Burners and Zen’s in Global’s lineup, the gap between the HP2 and HP3 lines in Roto’s catalog, and the gap between the Phaze 3 and Hyroads in Storm’s lineup, so it’s a very well placed and necessary option in the SPI catalog.

The new Wolverine Dark Moss is a great compliment to the original Wolverine. The cover stock is a little bit cleaner, which makes this new Wolverine get down the lane effortlessly, and hook a lot down lane. That is what we need when the lanes are hooking and forcing us in front of the ball return. I probably will not be using this ball unless I’m left of 15 at the arrows. There is so much continuation that I believe the Dark Moss is a ball that will thrive hooking the lane and covering boards. I have the Wolverine Dark Moss between my original Wolverine and my Idol Cosmos. The Idol Cosmos and Hustle Camo are both weaker than the Dark Moss. The color on this ball reminds me a lot of the IQ Emerald which was an amazing ball.

Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Wolverine and at 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the S70 Pearl Coverstock and comes 4K Fast with an RG of 2.540 and a Diff of 0.051.
Layout for this ball is 5.5 X 4.5 X 1
I have enjoyed when I am able to get this ball into my hands, but with the bigger balls in front of this ball and the lack of super dry I have at home I don't get to throw this ball as much as I would like too. I keep this ball in my tournament bag and it's really good when the lanes start to get burned up. I can see this ball being thrown on a fresher condition with players with more hand. I am on the lower rev rate side and need the stronger balls to see the friction so again this one doesn't get into my hand a lot.

I drilled my Dark Moss 4 1/2 by 35 which is how I drilled my original one. To me the Dark Moss is a little more motion in the back than the original. I get good skid thru the front and great recovery in the back of the lane. I have used this when my REALITY CHECK is getting to forward or stopping. It also will let me play straighter and hug the oil line in league play. Get this one when you want something to get thru the burnt fronts but need some recovery down the lane.

The Wolverine Dark Moss is 900 Global’s newest addition to their 700 Series. The Dark Moss is 900 Global’s replacement to the Original Wolverine after it got banned from certain USBC events. I think that they have done a great job replacing this ball. With that being said, I feel that the Dark Moss and the original Wolverine are very similar, however, the Dark Moss is earlier and smoother (I attribute this to the Dark Moss having the 4k fast finish compared to the 1500 polish featured on the Wolverine). I believe that I would use them both in a very similar spot, however I would probably use the Dark Moss earlier in the day than the Wolverine. I think that the Dark Moss will be a great addition to your tournament or houseshot bag! Go out and get yours today!

Sometimes it's amazing how things work out. The original Wolverine is an all time favorite for me. What happened with that having to be discontinued. I got a better version!!!! All the good of the original but a little stronger allows me to get into it a little earlier and get more use out of it. Same shape as the original it just handles a little more oil.

900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss Ball Review

Bowler Stats:
Speed: 15.5 MPH
Rev Rate: 300 RPM
Tilt: 3-5 degrees
Axis Rotation: 60 degrees
PAP: 5 ⅜ over 1 ¼ up

With the release of the Dark Moss I wasn’t sure if this was going to be the same as the original or different. I know colors can change the reaction because some colors just roll better than others. The original Wolverine I drilled with a 4 ½ inch pin placement and on the local house shots it was conditional. If there was less friction at the end of the pattern then it went too long but with the right amount it rolled great. So with that in mind I figured the Dark Moss would be just as strong so I drilled it with a 5 X 41/2 X23/4 VLS layout to give the ball more length and if it was too early I will scuff it up with 2000 since it came with the 4K Fast.

Out of the box with the 4K Fast I liked the reaction. It was smoother off the friction than the original Wolverine but that could be because the original had a surface of 1500 grit with polish. As I continued to put more games on the Dark Moss it did shine up making it look like polish and caused an over/ under reaction on the house shot. I scuffed it with a 2000 pad and let it shine up again but now I have a more controllable reaction.

For my game the Dark Moss fits in between the NIght Road and the Hyped Pearl.

Likes: its BETTER than the original

Dislikes: none!

Same ball different cover…maybe.  The reactions are different! My original blue Wolverine really stood up and went forward.  The Dark Moss gets to the spot, hooks, and has more continuation.  So far this season, the Dark Moss has bailed me out for more than the blue Wolverine did last year.  It’s just more useful and I have more confidence in it!

No copy and pasting from me when it comes to this ball.  It’s NOT the same as it’s predecessor, its BETTER!

I still use it later in blocks or later in the evening on league nights.  Once the lanes break down this ball will allow me to be in, still hit on it, get through the heads and mids without over reading the burn or the friction down lane.

The Wolverine Dark Moss is a keeper!

The Wolverine Dark Moss is the latest addition to the 900 Global line. The biggest difference between the Dark Moss and the original Wolverine is the coverstock. The Dark Moss uses the S70 Pearl cover and the same Lacerate 2 core. The Dark Moss is clean and super quick off the dry. It does have a higher 2.54 RG and diff of .053, the Dark Moss is designed to be used when there's a good amount of friction, when the bigger balls are too early. I drilled mine 4x5x3 and it picks up the kids extremely well. I can see myself using it on house shots when I need to get in and give away the pocket a bit. If I was to drill another one I would drill it much weaker and have it be my end of block ball. The Dark Moss really wants to get in and be wheeled!

Do not be surprised if you see this ball make a lot of PBA tour telecasts! I have seen a ton of these out in PBA regional competition and the righties with any kind of rev rate make it look silly!

The all new wolverine dark moss is the new and improved wolverine. This ball with the new 4k fast gives this ball a lot of pop off the spot. For me the original wolverine was too clean where the dark moss picks up and still drives through the pins. If you're looking for your next bench mark ball look no further than the all new dark moss!  The new addition to the 900 Global line is the Wolverine Dark Moss.  This is the original Wolverine replacement.  900 Global used the same core but used a different color of S70 Pearl Coverstock (Green).  I thought the original Wolverine was a little flippy.  I drilled mine 5 x 3 x 2 pin above my middle finger.  I added a little 2000 pad to the surface.  I have the Dark Moss a little earlier and more rounded on the backend.  It has been a great ball to combat the wet/dry lane conditions. Even with the more rounded backend the Dark Moss can still be used when playing the deeper inside angles. Very Continuous motion.  When the earlier and stronger balls like Zen, Phaze 2, reality check start to bog down the Dark Moss is perfect ball to transition to.

I am higher speed, rev challenged 220-250ish, high tilt, high rotation, and super low track player. I drilled my Wolverine dark moss 25x4.25x35. I was very excited and hoped this would have been a replacement for the OG wolverine, but it wasn’t. This ball works best for me when the lanes are dry which allows me to stay right. This ball is a bit cleaner down lane for me in comparison to the OG wolverine. I haven’t thrown this ball a ton in league but it’s definitely a great addition for players that need it for light and medium oil patterns.

900 Global Wolverine Dark Moss

S70 pearl coverstock

Lacerate 2.0 core

The core looks to be a mix/match/new tweak to the cores used in the badger lines. The final shape mixed with this cover combines to make one of the more skid/flip balls I have seen out of 900G.

Longer, more angular shape,

Good move from my Zen when I need a little more length/little less overall hook.

Step up from my Electrify Pearl, step down from my Phaze 3 or Zen,
