Review:
If you are looking for a very medium and  very controllable pearl, this may be the ball you want. The new Xponent Pearl reads the lane sooner than I would have expected form a pearl. The Xponent Pearl also has a more controllable shape down lane than I expected from this pearl cover. I personally would have liked to have seen a bit more backend from this ball but I know this would be against the design intent. I also did not feel the ball was forgiving for my style and I had to be more precise with my release. I did let a no thumb bowler try mine out (still with my thumb hole in it) and he saw better results. He had more area but with the same control. This is a good looking benchmark ball to build an arsenal around. I would put this ball between the RIP and Sublime in total hook.

Summary:
The Xponent Pearl has a very nice smooth motion.
This ball should not be jumpy or erratic.
High rev bowlers needing control may really like this ball.

So, let's take a closer look at what's behind the fantastic results I found with the 900 Global Xponent Pearl!

The proven Shrapnel 2.0 symmetrical core has the essential benchmark reaction we straighter players like to see. I found the Shrapnel 2.0 to be smooth and consistent as it rolls through the mid-lane, and most importantly, I liked how the Shrapnel 2.0 is predictable and precise off the pattern. Although it is a symmetrical core that will rev early, the Shrapnel 2.0 builds a strong momentum as it heads down the lane without losing its gusto and makes its turn towards the pocket. So, I found the Shrapnel 2.0 a great blend of rev and power, making the Shrapnel 2.0 a well-balanced core that delivered results.

The Reserve Blend 702 Pearl was super clean from my first roll with the Xponent. And for my straighter, higher-speed, low-rev game, it was a bit too clean and long with the factory Reacta Gloss finish. So, I took my Xponent to 1500-grit Abralon, followed by Storm's Rough Edge Polish, and my Xponent Pearl lit up the lanes! With the correct surface adjustment, my Xponent was clean in the front part of the lane, smooth in the midsection, and easily blended the back end. I especially liked that the Reserve Blend 702 Pearl provided a predictable motion as the lanes started to break down. And I also liked how the Reserve Blend 702 Pearl blended those spotty conditions without being over-sensitive as the night continued. The Xponent Pearl is a great game two and three ball you can count on while still staying in your comfort zone!

In conclusion, 900 Global has produced a winner with the Xponent Pearl. And what makes the Xponent Pearl well worth the purchase is its excellent functionality. The Xponent Pearl is smooth, clean, and predictable, making the Xponent Pearl a decisive choice on its own. Yet, with its benchmark look and roll, the Xponent Pearl would greatly complement the original Xponent. Combine the original benchmark Xponent for fresh oil and the benchmark Xponent Pearl for dryer lanes, and you will have an arsenal that will score results! The 900 Global Xponent Pearl. Definitely worth the read. Something you need to think about as far as a bench mark mid ball in your arsenal that is a pearl.


Pattern A1:

The Xponent isa favorite of mine. Typically, I carry one at 2000 grit and the other 2000/polished. When the Xponent Pearl came out I was excited to add that one element for pattern transition without making to many adjustments as the pattern developed. Initially the XP was smooth and strong off the spot one the fresh. Easy to get down the lane and a strong move to the pocket. I decided to take out a 2000 Xponent and Phaze II to transition the lanes a little faster. After 4 games and other bowlers on the lane the XP was brought out again. The XP definitely shined more so at this point than on the fresh. The control and recovery showed me its strengths as the pattern transitioned. The Xponent Pearl will actually move up ahead of the polished Xponent and free a space in the bag. The XP responded to speed changes without reading the pattern to quick and transitioning. The XP actually became better as the pattern continued to transition and the cover started to break in.

LOW DOWN: The Xponent Pearl is a ball that fits nicely in the middle of the arsenal for all bowlers but won’t penalize lower/slower speed/rev players. Definitely a great league ball.

Review:
The Xponent combines a new cover blend with a core last seen in the Ordinance C4. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 4x4x2 (pin is above bridge). The first thing that we noticed was how smooth this cover/core combination is. This ball easily fits in to that ‘benchmark’ ball category. Predictability that is like the Hy-Road Pearl to give an example. This is probably the most consistent mid-high performance (below the Zen line) ball that the 900 Global has produced to date. One thing to note is we did not change the out of box surface on this piece (Often we will blend the covers a bit to be a slight bit more predictable on our house pattern). The reacta gloss finish is looking much better than it did on some previous pieces. With its versatility we see this ball being in many bags, league bowlers and tournament players too!
