(differential .048); Hook: 22; Backend: 21; Finish: 1000 compound;

After receiving input from Del Warren at  AMF,  I had my SPT drilled stacked leverage out of the box.   This ball is the best kept secret in the bowling world......I can't believe every scratch bowler doesn't have one of these in their arsenal!!

For recovery, this ball clearly out performs any of the "monster" balls I have thrown and that includes the Contender, La Nina,  and the Chaos.  When this ball turns that corner, it just EXPLODES that rack.  If I get a little careless tipping the OB, the ball will still come back with a punch to give me a little more room.  This ball is a savior in our relentless pursuit of eliminating those corner pins.  The carry is absolutely flush.

I'm getting ready to get another one and have it shined up so I can obtain the length on drier conditions without sacrificing the backend this ball provides.

This ball has clearly put AMF up there with the BEST of the boomer balls.

I must admit at first I honestly did not like this bowling ball. I think it was a combination of reasons, first I shined the ball up pretty highly (5000 polish) and because of that the ball was too condition sensitive. Secondly the ball seemed to be hitting the pins excellent but always leaving one pin, either 10 or 4 or 7..etc. My drill pattern was have the pin at 12 and the CG above the ring finger, so had a touch less than 1 oz top weight.

Well i want to say that after using this ball for a few weeks, i have that as long as you don't try to cross 100 boards but rather play a bit straighter this ball is an animal. I have been using this ball in a very difficuly carrying house, and this is one of the few balls that gives a heavy enough roll without burning up and now i am able to finally carry the corners.

I think that this ball didn't need to be shined as much as I did because I drilled this ball for a teammate, left it out of the box drilled basically similar and he had no problem with the carry and no over-under reaction.

After using this ball for a while, I would feel that this ball is well worth the money. I feel that it is probably better suited to the bowler with a stronger hand in the ball.

I would like to see more balls from AMF with symmetric cores in the future.

This SPT [burgundy]is the best Night Hawk to date.Consistency is what you're looking for this ball is it.On one outing I had 25 strikes in a row and my first 300 game,{177-300-289}.Now I just didn't go out and throw three sets and come on here and say how great this ball is.I've used the SPT since it came out in the middle of Oct 99 and raised my average to 220, 25 pins over last year.

I wanted to do my first review on an awesome ball and the SPT is surely that.  I got it about 6 weeks ago off an ebay auction.  I had been throwing a Reaper, and loved it but couldn't get enough movement in the house I bowl in.  So I gave this one a try, and it definitely lived up to expectations.
It was about 3" pin out and 31/2 oz. of top weight.  I wanted it to have plenty of backend so put the pin out off and up from my ring finger about 2 inches.  WOW!!  The best thing about it is how predictable it is.  It never over or under reacts.  It's smooth through the heads, turns well to the hole and explodes through the pocket.  I am probably a med/high rever with avg. speed.  When they are really dry or even med. dry, this one goes in the bag.  It just eats through the lane.  If you are a high speed guy, you could probably use this thing anywhere.
I am a 200 book avg., and since I have had it my low series is a 614 and a high of 678.  This is my first ball out of the bag.  Only down side is if you let up on it, and don't get through it on the delivery you could see some 8 - 10 splits.  I followed a 269 game up with a 167 by doing that, but I have learned from my mistakes.  10 on control, 9 on power, 8 on length.

This is a great ball.  I used it for 2 years and went from a 160 ave to a 190 ave.  its definately a heavy oil ball though.  on dry lanes you might as well put it in the left side gutter cause thats where it goes.

I have to admit I've never been very crazy about AMF balls in the past, but this ball hits like a Mack truck. I'm a stroker (185 avg.) who loves to shoot down and in. I can adjust to the lane condition as long as there is some oil on the lane, this ball isn't for light oil conditions. However, if you are looking for a ball that has a strong backend and hits with a bad attitude, then I'm sure you will like this ball. I'm a righty and my Night Hawk SPT is drilled just left of the pin (made to hook), as I said, I'm a stroker and this ball hits harder than any ball I've ever owned before.

The reaction of this ball reminds me of the Storm X-It which I loved. The ball is clean through heads, arcs to the pocket, and drives through the pocket with authority.  The ball is very controllable and predictable.  I have one drilled thumb leverage which works great on medium oil with some dry on the backends (will leave solid 10's in carrydown).  The second is drilled stacked leverage and works great on heavy oil and flooded lanes.  If you were a fan of the Storm X-It you will like this one.

Just wanted to tell my story, after bowling since nov of 05, buying several
balls, the ramapge 16lbs, roto grip rsp16lbs and the monster brusier 16lbs. The nighthawk spt did the job for me got it on ebay for 37.95 from jim rainbow. My average has went up from a 125 to a steady 170, just start bowling the bighthawk since 2-18-05 and tonight i rolled two 200 games. The nighthawk bowling ball is worth every penney.......Clouseoutsusa.com has them cheap...

well, this is sorta my first review, but now that im getting back into bowling after a pretty serious knee injury, i'll start here.  well i bought this ball because i simply like amf stuff, particulary the nighthawk line.  i throw 15 lb, 2oz top, 3 inch pin.  i got it drilled with the pin 1 in above my ring finger, the CG kicked out about 1-11/2 to the right.  there's something about this layout that i love.  i get length and a smooth hard arc.  i generally play down and in (stroker) but can play inside if i have to, of course i need some dry backends to make that line work for me.  but let me say that this ball hits hard.  in the house im bowling at, there is usually lots of carrydown with a typical house shot (they don't strip the lanes in the morning).  i found this ball worked great for when you have carrydown, and it doesn't get away from you.  and you don't have to work hard at making adjustments with this ball.  the pins stay low, and the carry is great.  rolled a 214 with this ball. (I only bowled 2 games, the other game i threw a amf nighthawk menace).  im starting to learn what my stuff does again, and im finding that for the bowling alleys im practicing at, this ball works wonders.  i had trouble with this ball, while bowling in texas, but i had too much equipment, so this ball didnt see much action.  but it'll start seeing more playtime now.  For me, this ball works best polished right now. (i used storm xtra step 2, about 1500 grit).  i have used this ball dull and it works just as well, and very good for heavy oil.  you havent seen a lot of over/under with this ball, and if you can find one, GET IT!!  it may be old, but it still does the job.  i'll take this ball over some of the newer stuff.

as i start my bowling comeback, i'll update my review.  thanks..
