The Night Hawk Torque Pearl features a colossal flip block capping the devastating density of AMF's proven Night Hawk Power Ring. The result is bone-crushing power. AMF's proven SPT coverstock-Super Particle Technology-has also been injected with an overdose of adrenaline. The result is SPT III, AMF's most aggressive Pearl coverstock to date, and the perfect combination to the Night Hawk family. The SPT III provides a later break point without getting the "squirt" associated with most pearl coverstocks. And the gorilla Power Ring revs in the mid-lane for more area and less deflection. Simply put, the ball adds a powerful dimension to the Night Hawk family giving strong continuous backend even in carry down.

The specifications are: Core: Power Ring Multi Density; Coverstock: SPT III; RG: 2.50; Flare Potential: 6.5" (differential .052); Hook: 14-24; Length: 4.5; Finish: 800 polish; Weights: 12, 14-16 lbs.; Color: Purple Pearl with
yellow logo fill.

Let me start this off by saying the Nighthawk Pearl Torque is a pearlized particle ball.  That said, you never seem to know with these balls if it's going to react more like a pearlized resin, or a solid particle.  How AMF managed to actually combine the two is beyond me, but they did it before (see my Menace review) so I guess they could do it again.

Where other pearlized particle balls tend to be very mellow (e.g. Riot Zone), there is nothing mellow about the backend flip on this ball.  The Pearl Torque covers as many boards in the backend of the lane as most other balls.  The great thing about the Torque is it does it very sharply, meaning you can move in deep and keep it tight the whole way down the lane and still carry the 10 out.

THe other impressive thing about the Pearl Torque is that it still flips pretty hard even when it hits carrydown.  Granted it doesn't break as sharply as when the lanes are fresh, but when there has been some play on the lanes this ball will still have about 80-85% of its usual backend reaction.  Makes it a great ball to turn to when the heads on the right are starting to go but the backends aren't doing too much.

FYI, ball was drilled with the pin under the ring finger (4 3/4 x 4 1/2), mass bias in the strongest position.

Although I normally drill only Storm equipment for myself I got a good buy on some Torque Pearls so I decided to try one.

My first reaction was....why did they discontinue this ball ?!?!?!?!?!? I drille dit the same as my solid Torque with pin by reing and PRI about an inch right of my thumbhole. The ball projected smoother than my Eraser adn turned the corner harder than my El Nino Gold. Pin action was incredible.

I think this ball will have a nice happy home in my bag for awhile...at least until Storm puts out something I llike better.

Nice job AMF...but why discontinue the ball???????

i drilled mine to go long and come back and thats just what it did. it came back like hell and made the pins fly over and under.

great ball the only problem i found with it was it was drilled for light oil but if there is no backend it will hit brooklyn almost 80% of the time on a scale of 1-10 this ball definitely deserves an 8.5

            good job AMF

hi

i got this ball drilled comletely label.

and i can definitly say that this ball is a very versitile ball. because of its pearl shell i bought this ball for light oil. this ball is very good for light oil. but another interesting thing with this ball is that i can use it as a heavy oil ball as well, while keeping the same shine on it. i bowl the ball at about 25 km/h and with above average revs. this ball is very controlable on any condition. the condition that i was bowling on was 5 units outside 5 and 25 units everywhere else.

I looked at my review list and realized I never posted a review for this ball, so here we go. Got this ball about a year ago, drilled with the pin over the ring finger for backend and it definately has backend and then some. Surfaced is polished to get it to go longer. Play between 3rd and 4th arrow, getting it out to about 5-8, depending on the shot (fresh or carrydown) throwing it about 15-16 mph, good rev's. Ball hits hard, but has left a lot of 7 pins for me. When I start leaving several 7's I make a slight adjustment wether it is speed or feet and ball carries 7's all night. Shot many a good games with it, but it has since found the extra bag in my trunk due to other balls taking its place. However, I could pull this ball out and hit it like it was brand new anytime. 9 out of 10 in my book, great reaction, lots of backend.

Well I decided to do a review of this ball . I purchase this ball from closeout usa for $40.00 . I had this ball drilled strong . This ball is amazing for an older ball . I would stand on 20 swing it to 12 came right back . This is a smooth ball with good backend . I notice when the ball hit dead flush the pin would just fly all over . Good hard hitting ball . The next game I stood on 27 and sending the ball out there with my pinking finger tucked for more revs. This ball made a hard turn and came off the dry board and strike after strike. Not bad the second game 234 with a older ball . I will keep this ball just for what I had it drilled for when the heads break down and you need to move inside . Even though I have another ball for that condition.' I will give this ball 8 out of 10 . Sometime older is better than the aggressive balls on the market . Just my 2 cents .

Power stroker
ball speed - 18/19 mph

I bought this ball on closeouts-usa.com.  It was my first AMF ball and I wasn't sure what to expect.  I had it drilled with the pin over the ring finger.  I was looking for a little bit of distance, but balanced with a nice move to the pocket in the backend.  This ball is very predictable on medium to medium-dry oil, but once the lanes start to dry out in the front, the ball CAN squirt towards the pocket irregardless of what the company hacks say.  A little more loft down the lane corrects that problem though.

The reaction reminds me of the old Danger Zone or a slightly more powerful Sapphire Zone.  I haven't had a ball react like those balls in a long time.  Since I was a fan of those releases, I am enthused to own this ball.

I would give this ball an 8 out of 10, but its lack of distance on the dry pattern that I initially had it drilled for kind of knocked it down.  I would definitely suggest you try this ball if you liked the Sapphire or Danger Zone.
