Ball NPS Score: 100.00
The Research and Development Team at AMF300 developed a new core for our latest High Performance series. The ALL-NEW "Tower Core" will give you the power of an asymmetric core with the control of a symmetrically designed weight block. The Radar wraps AMF300''s proven Mach1 reactive coverstock around the new "Tower Core" in a pearlized shell.

Radar with the new Tower Core is just awsome.  Box specs on mine is 15.03 Top 3 1/2 pin is 4-4.5.  I have mine drilled 3 7/8 X 2 1/2.  I have used this ball quite a few games in the factory finish and loved it.  Only problem I was having was it was a little bit dead on carrydown.  Then I took it to the spinner and took it down to 1000 sanded.  That took care of the problem instantly.  I can use this ball on medium to heavy oiled lanes.  It is very angular on the mediums and you can definately open up the lane with it and still has plenty of backend on the heavier carrydown to.  I have seen this ball work for alot of people with many different styles.  I would have to say I believe this one might be the most versitile ball in AMF300's lineup for every style of bowler.  Carry is great and the Tower Core is just so great with this coverstock.  If you are looking for a strong pearl this would be the ball to go with for sure.

Decided on a Radar after reading Joe Cerar's Feb. 2006 "No Holes Barred" column in Bowlers Journal. My biggest problem was trying to find a ball that I could control with my slow ball speed. Not a problem with the Radar. I had the ball drilled to go long by Leon Chavez@Jerry's 300 Club in Scaramento. After a few practice games I realized I had something I've never seen before in my game, revs and carry. I don't know how many 4-7-5 light pocket hits I've left over the years, but not with this baby. This ball is like a shotgun, all you have to do is get close. I know the Radar won't make up for all my bowling mistakes, like missing single pin spares, but the good news, it doesn't leave very many. One last thing, the internet picture of the Radar doesn't do it justice. The ball is predominately gold.

Hi,
i'm new to this site but had to tell somebody about this major league badass ball from AMF300. I drilled it label for max hook and backend--cg at 12:00 to pin and grip center 2" to left of that line on the center of gravity line. I didn't drill a balance hole--- Please tell me why i need one so i'm not cheating.  anyway, this ball is smooth and powerful! when it it makes it's move left it just keeps going and smacks the pocket. I wanted to buy a roto grip epic battle-- but now i'm stuck if i want a radar-lock---
anyway, (again) the coverstock on the radar is bulletproof and i am amazed at how little lane trash it pick's up and is nick free after 25 games in 2 house's! If i sound like a rep for AMF-- I'm not. But try this ball if you get a chance because between amf and columbia engineering--- this ball RULES

Just got mine drilled and used it for the first time today.  I have it drilled leverage, closest to the drilling titled "Length/Forward Roll Drilling" in the "AMF Pro Shop Operator's Guide to AMF Ball Drilling Techniques" brochure, which I downloaded from their site.  Except my CG doesn't look like its exactly on mid-line and not at the centerofmy grip.  It's a little higher than that toward the fingers, which I guess is supposed to give some thumb weight.  This was recommended by my pro shop guy.  I told him I wanted length and strong flip.

I threw 4 games with it today, only made got close to my average one of the games.  I think this was due to the lanes I was bowling on.  There seemed to be lots of oil and a large OB area.  This is a new house to me, and I bought this ball because I have been struggling here and thought it would be good for this specific house.  Old wood lanes with Guardian. But that wasn't the case, at least not today.

With leverage drilling, and especially after reading the other reviews here, I thought this ball would be much stronger.  Its not.  I do agree with what other people said that it does seem very versatile.  I even made 10 pins with it, which I don't normally do with my "first ball" balls.  I had no problem making most spares.  But the ball does not come back strong.  And when I did bury it in the pocket, I left ringing 10 after ringing 10.  Not many solid strikes.  Many of the strikes I did get were bad hits.  I hit the head pin dead on the nose several times and managed to get mixer strikes,  but if I buried it in the pocket, I saw the 10 pin staring back just about every time.

I'm going to use it some more, might try a surface adjustment, I don't know yet.  But I'm not seeing this great reaction everyone else is writing about.   Maybe I got the wrong drilling setup.  I don't know.

Got mine set up with the CG in the palm and pin above the ring finger. This is a great benchmark. It goes long but reads the lanes extremely well making my just even easier. I has great continuation in the backend through the pins. On a THS I strung 7 in a row easily, however, I haven't had a good condition to throw it on. From my read of the ball, great ball if you have good dry backends or outsides. It can handle some oil which makes it a good benchmark for me, but, too much oil in the backend will make the ball push behind the headpin. I love the reaction, love the continuation, love the carry. Great ball from AMF and I will continue to keep their equipment in mind when shopping.

COMMENTS

Likes: My favorite all time ball!  Ball works best on wet/dries.  When lanes are sloppy this is the ball! Revs very quick and finishes strong.  Highest scores and set with this ball!

Dislikes: Cant buy a new one, doesn't like walled patterns
