Title: *~AMF Villain Video from Videoballreviews.com!~*
Post by: VideoBallReviews on July 30, 2008, 01:38:39 PM
Hi All,

I'm proud to present to you The AMF Villain Video.

http://www.videoballreviews.com/villain.html

My Take on the Ball:

This is AMF's best benchmark ball to date.  Really great ball for reading the pattern and telling you what is out there.  This ball will struggle on the extremes, but will cover most medium conditions nicely.  So smooth and controlable off the breakpoint.

Compared to the Nighthawk Pearl, the Villain had a better recovery off the dry.  They overlap somewhat on a Typical house shot, but the real difference can be seen when you get to the flatter patterns, the Villain just reads the lane better in my opinion...similar motion to a Hei$t but not as much overall hook.

I havent thrown an original Nighthawk in awhile but i would have to say this is a touch less aggressive overall and in the backend...i loved my nighthawks, and this gives me a similar motion with more control in the backend.

As i said, without a surface adjustment this ball will struggle OOB on Oil, it did OK with carrydown OOB but nothing spectacular...some surface will help with that.

Overall, this is a great starting point to any arsenal...and will be a consistent performer just like the rest of their line up!

Nice video, but I would much rather have seen these two balls thrown with the same drilling on them, to get a good read of the differences in coverstock.

When I use a 4x 4.5 drilling on my balls I get a very soft arc motion, since for me that would almost be a label leverage shift drilling.

The Villain's 4.25 x 2.5 has a much smoother drilling on it, which causes the ball to get into a much earlier roll, sooner. Put s 4x2 on the NightHawk and show me what ya got!

So the reactions, to me,  are kind of misleading. But thanks for the video nonetheless!

I drilled the Villain like that because i was originally going to compare to the original night hawk i had drilled like that, till i couldnt find it...i need to come up with a better organizational system for all these balls.  With over 200 balls in the house, i am starting to lose track of what i have and dont have.  SO the next best thing was a nighthawk pearl drilled as shown.

Sorry bout that!

Rick,

In another thread, we were discussing the Villain, and it was hashed out that this was a Triton Elite in sheep skin hiding. Both had SuperFlex and the same shape core. This is also essentially the core from the Vendetta as well, which were all good rolling balls.
