Title: AMF Encore first thoughts
Post by: Jcasteel87 on October 21, 2015, 12:37:09 PM
Speed    17MPH
Rev rate   450
PAP   4-7/8 and 1/3 up
Axis Tilt   15 degrees
Axis Rotation   30 degrees
Encore   40x5.5x60
The AMF Encore is a new mid-level addition to the AMF300 ball lineup. This pearl symmetric ball is good on medium-dry lane conditions. With the drilling that I used on this ball, I can compare it to the 900 Global Breakdown that I currently use, and they react in a similar fashion, but I would say that the Encore is a little more length and a bigger backend reaction. I like to use this layout on equipment that I want to be able to keep outside and play straighter angles downlane, and this ball matches up well by being able to clear the heads and still have enough pop downlane to get good carry. If I compare it to a similar ball in the AMF300 line, the NightHawk SE, it is a bit more ball overall. Using the F73 Pearl cover, this ball will have the biggest motion on the backend part of the lane. This would be my first choice to transiation towards after I see that my benchmark reaction is a bit too much or too early.

I'm still waiting for a video comparing this ball to the Pure Adrenaline. the specs are very similar.

Im assuming that with the Pure Adrenaline, the higher diff will flare much more than the Encore. That's really the only difference I see in the 2, .053 vs. .037. I should be getting my Encore next week but ive never thrown the Pure Adr yet but plan to pick it up pretty soon.

Encore will allow you to play closer to the friction and it will be smoother off the end of the pattern.

I will see what I can do about a video. I have been practicing a ton for the US Open. But I will say for me, the Pure Adrenaline, handles more oil and is stronger throughout than the Encore. The Encore is a ball for me that I can open up my angles when they start to break down and not have fear about it stopping down lane. F74 creates more mid lane roll, F73 creates more push and angle. Trust me you can't go wrong with the Mallet core in the Encore.

I have a bad history with the Freight Train core, so I'm steering clear of the Adrenaline, but the Encore looks good.

Just got an email stating that the Encore's are pushed back until next week. What a bunch of BS. Was hoping to get mine this week now I have to wait another 2 weeks before it gets to me. BOOOOO

The Pure Adrenaline has been my most consistent bowling ball since I got it. I bowled 300 with it just a month ago at a house known for leaving 10 pins. It's pearl coverstock's ability to turn left for me at just the right time is the best of any AMF ball I have ever used.

Oh, don't get me wrong. The Adrenaline is a great ball. I just don't match up with that core.

What's a good layout for medium to heavy, ball speed 16mph+ for a lady, mostly bowl from second arrow but can move around. Don't know rev rate but  usually put alot of spin on it

Do you have any more information like PAP or high, medium, low track? Are you specifically looking at a Pure Adrenaline for a medium to heavy oil shot or are you open to another ball more suited for that type of condition? If so, the Pure was built for medium/heavy to heavy oil. Don't let the F90 cover fool you, its very versatile and will roll well even on THS conditions. Definitely an additional option to consider. As far as layout goes, without knowing more, I can only brainstorm some ideas. Is there a particular ball shape she is looking for? I will say you will definitely see more length out of the Pure Adrenaline vs the Pure. I don't feel the Pure Adrenaline is a true skid/snap type of ball. If you want that type of reaction, I would recommend a different ball for that. If you want an earlier read and a strong hard arch, then go with the Pure. If you are looking for more length than the Pure, and a similar backend reaction, then Pure Adrenaline is what you are looking for.
