THE UGLY WHITE BALL!!! I had one.  First time out with it I shot 296 (don't ask. also lost a bracket w/ that game).  I'm not  sure I ever shot over 200 with it again.  It currently resides at the bottom of the Snake River (made a lovely splash).

I had a sanded one and a factory polished off the PBA truck. Neither worked too well, hit like a marshmellow. One was sold cheap, the other was a dog toy for my mastiff.

And don't forget the REAL bonus of the UWB.  After 10 games or so it became just another black bowling ball.

I loved this ball, but it was quite allergic to oil so I could only use it on certain conditions. I averaged about 225 using this ball one season, and shot a 300 with it.
It was actually a gift from a bowler who threw it one game and decided she never wanted to throw it again. I watched that one game she threw and yeah - it hit like a marshmellow for her. I had considerable more success with it.

Bowling balls are like video games I don't need anymore but I keep buying them.

I still have one with about 1,000 or more (probably a lot more) games on it. It's polished, and maintenance has never been a big issue. If anything, it's told me when I needed to really clean it.

I had another one at one time, too -- sanded. Never could get it to work and I finally sold it.

How you drilled the ball and especially how you prepped the cover meant everything. I think that goes without saying for anything Mo Pinel was ever involved with. The drill pattern on the one I still have is one of the strangest things I've ever seen. It ended up about 1.5 x 4 with a crater weight hole about 1.5 down and to the left of the PAP, big-time pin-out ball with the pin way over to the right of the label and up a bit.

But give me some medium-dry wood lanes and I was gold with that old ball.

I also had the Pro XS I and II after that; never did like either as much as I did my old bone XS. Very underrated ball but it was difficult to properly set up.
