Title: Amf Radar Lock drilling instructions?
Post by: LuckyLefty on August 20, 2008, 12:27:41 AM
Anyone have a link to these.  Or will the standard AMF assymetric drillings like for the Nkryption code work?

Anyone know the assymetric factor for these Radar series balls?

Hey lefty,

What do you want the radar lock to do??

Lefty,

I'm pretty sure the Radar series is symmetric.  I have the Alert and the Lock, and there is no MB marking, only a pin and CG.

I know that about the markings but I swear their descriptions SAID assymetric if memory serves me right.

By virtue of NOT having a marking I'm guessing the assym factor is not very great(sort of like the codes)

Strokes....sort of like that baby is....lots of midlane with backend!

But I picked up another one of the Radar series and wanted to puruse!

Oh...well maybe symmetric!

I found this drill sheet on the Radar Lock ball at
ProBowlingballs.com....

SOOOOO

I guess I was wrong!  (http://"http://www.probowlingballs.com/images/products/AMF/BowlingBalls/docs/AMFdrill.pdf")

First Code is symmetric, and the Nkryption Code has a MB strength of 0.008.  As you said, not a very great asymmetric factor.

Just dropped my 2nd Radar Lock off at the pro shop yesterday.  Will have it drilled pin over bridge, CG under ring.  Should get lots of midlane and strong backend.

Direct...for me that DRILLING would TYPICALLY not provide much midlane....but you are right!  On this core it looks like midlane is a given on the Lock and the Alert....not so much on the original.

I just saw why I thought it was an assymtetric.

Ad page on the original radar referred to "the strength of an assymetric with the continuation(or was it hitting power) of a symmetric.

It still seems like it WAS a slight assymetric....but OH WELL!

PS EricThomas has confirmed for me the symmetric nature of this series of balls!

Drill sheet was just standard AMF sheet, nothing special.

Lefty,

I can understand the confusion.  How will you layout your Radar Lock?  Let us know once you get it drilled.

Hey lefty,

Pin under ring and kick the cg out to about 3 inches from your pap. Should get the ball started soon and a strong midlane move. Make surface changes as necessary.

James...threw as is today...it was wet and the ball was surprisingly straight but wanted to strike!

I like your recommendation for this ball and shot!  Of course I have the next stronger radar layin around waitin....?
