Would the solar flare be a good replacement for the double clutch pearl? I have loved the dcp and it is my benchmark, best ball ever for me, but with hundreds of games on it starting to consider a replacement.

Just by looking at the numbers, they are very close. The biggest difference in my opinion would be the cover strength. F55 vs. F62. I wouldn't see why you couldn't get the Solar Flare to replace the Double Clutch.

Thanks, I was thinking the same just going off the numbers. The dcp has a great benchmark type reaction for me. Anyone thrown both?

Just as an alternative option, if you are set with a pearl for your benchmark ball, then go for the Solar Flare. However, if you would be interested in a solid for your benchmark ball, then you might be interested in the King Cobra. It has the same cover as the DCP (F55) but will roll a touch earlier and has a little bit less flare. I think it is the closest ball to the 900 Global Favorite from a few years ago, but better. Seems like it gets better every time it comes out of the bag. Just an idea for a solid or something that would compliment the Solar Flare or DCP. Either one or both, I don't think you can go wrong.

The dcp always to seem to have a rep for being a weaker ball. The Solar Flare looks stronger. Just my opinion. It looks pretty mean. In fact, the Heat Stroke looks just as good!

That's interesting, because the Favorite was my benchmark ball until I replaced it with the dcp, and I loved it as well. Only reason I replaced it was because it was 14lb (experiment) but decided to stay with 15lbers. I have heard that the sure thing was the favorite replacement?

I happen to have a NIB 14# DCP. If anyone is interested just LMK

The sure thing is a bit stronger than the favorite. The king cobra is a great benchmark piece that is for sure. It has been my go to ball since it was released.
