AMF Triumph, TNT, + Velocity
« on: October 14, 2004, 02:06:45 PM »
OK, I've had my Velocity drilled up and rolling for a couple weeks now. Drilled it with pin just right and slightly above ring finger and MB in the strong position. She rolls REAL smooth through the heads, and comes hard into the pocket. I find, though, that if I don't go up through it, she won't come back from outside. As long as I throw it right, she rolls like a dream. Had a few friends throw it also, and they're very impressed.

I've had my Triumph for quite a while now. It's got about a 4" pin, drilled with the pin out at about 1:30 with the CG center of grip about 3/4" above the mid-line.  This is my go-to ball at this time. She turns a little earlier than the Velocity, but breaks a little less on the back ends, VERY predictable reactions! I can use it on virtually any shot I've run into so far.

I just drilled up a "burgandy" TNT (I've been told by AMF personnel that burgandy was the original color choice, but full production switched to black). It has about a 2" pin.  I drilled it pretty much like my Triumph, although the pin distance difference is noticable.  I threw it on a fresh house shot (we have Brunswick Anvil Lanes, oiled 38', bufffed 42', typical house shot) and let me tell you - throw it as far right as you want, she'll come back!  I threw both my Velocity and my Triumph to verify the normal shot, and to warm up. Then I threw the TNT on the same line, and she was gone WAY brooklyn! So I start moving left, throwing farther and farther right, and no matter how far out I threw it, she just came screaming back. I ended up standing lined up with the lefthand gutter, throwing about 18-9 out to about the 3 board, and she just came driving back into the pocket!

I'm definitly NOT going to be able to use this on our house shots around here, but I'll at least have a ball for when I find a house that floods the lanes!
