Bone XS Lives!!!!
« on: October 18, 2004, 01:44:17 AM »
I used to have a bone XS back when they first came out, but I gave it away.  Well, I thought it would be cool to find one and throw it again.  I mentioned that to a friend and he knew someone who had one.  I got it for free and I didn't have to plug it, just reslug the thumb.

I used the ball Thursday night for a 658 in my mixed league.  I had numerous people comment about the ball.  It is drilled flip leverage by the drilling instructions that my shop had on video tape.

Long live the dirtiest ball ever made,
andrew

It moved more than I expected but nothing violent.  I was rather surprised how well it carried and it kept the pins very low.  I should have shot 7 but I choked the last game with a 187(1 open).

Bone XS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>moves like the big hooker you took home from the bar - a slow sluggish roll to the left, no flip here.

There's a guy here who has an XS.  The other ball in his two-ball arsenal is the original Code Red.  Don't think the XS has been cleaned in years either!  He's a 190 average player too.

My Bone XS was VERY allergic to oil, so I only used it on drier conditions, where I would get a nice little hook-set flip at the end. Great ball for me (a 300 ball, in fact), although it was very condition specific.
I just gave it away to somebody last month.

You weren't unlucky when you left that corner pin, so shut up about it already!!

i like mine. i had a 16lb when i started bowling 1 1/2 years ago. i left it on rack when i went to 15lb. i chose a drilling from pictures in booklet. it is very condition specific & i usually bring out in heavy oil. i stand left, toss right & watch it slowly gather some steam. i can't explain why but pins seem to stay low when it hits. it almost looks like pins just drunkenly fall over on each other as opposed to normal mixing action. kind of like watching a 8lb ball strike. and my whole league laughs as it rolls down lane. but it doesn't seem to leave many corner pins. i have thrown a few high 200 games with it so laughing eventually stops. i only use in sheer frustration when nothing else works & i have to admit i need a blowtorch to clean it.
