I have the Mega Friction, and it's a great ball. I'm looking at the Mega Recovery, and I'm slightly confused as to what they were aiming for. They changed the core a bit, to drop the RG by .05, from 2.50(MF) to 2.45(MR) which is a pretty significant change. This alone would mean the ball should spin up quicker, and be earlier. Then then added Differential, from 0.042(MF) to 0.054(MR). So they made it wind up quicker and gave it more backend power at the pins. Then, they wrapped it in a slightly weaker coverstock, to give it the length it needs to get down the lane?
In my head, it just seems like an unconventional way to go about doing things. It sounds like it'll work, More lengths, faster revving reaction to friction and more back end, but I was just curious as to your thoughts on the ball, as well as how they went about obtaining the desired reaction.

the MF is a very specific use ball IMO, for heavy or flooded lane conditions or long patterns, very few see the use for a MF in normal league situations. The MR on the other had offers a wide variety of use depending on your bowling style, changing the surface offers even more possibilities, earlier rolling and revving more angular back end, with a cover strength to handle most all THS. IMO a great addition to the MF

Steve,
I agree with your assessment 100%. I found the Mega Recovery much better on my THS league last Monday. The MF needs oil to shine and the MR not so much.
I think it''s another great new release form the boys down in SA..

They also took out the 6% particle in the MR. Ball should and does store up more energy for the backend.
