Title: Darkness
Post by: rustylegacy on February 14, 2015, 10:01:11 AM
Can anybody compare the Darkness to a Radar lock or Alert? I have both those polished, the Alert still picks up earlier than the Lock. Im sure the darkness will be earlier than both. Im thinking of putting the pin low, but I dont want it to die at the arrows. Also is it a Utah ball? The sticker on the box yells Storm, not a typical SA box sticker.

Not a Utah ball, as it was produced in early 2014 and discontinued before the fall releases. Pretty good ball though, I still use mine and its my go to ball when I want a good strong finish and a predictable motion. I would put it as a drop down/compliment to the Moxie. When the Moxie starts to pick up too early, the Darkness is a good ball that won't read too early, but still have a good move on the backend. I am not able to compare it to the Radar Lock or Alert. Weren't those particle covers? If so, those are going to give a different reaction from the Darkness. I think if you have the opportunity to pick up a Darkness, do it. Pin down or up, I think you'll like it and be able to use it on many conditions.

I have it, just didnt drill it yet. The sticker is different than any SA ball Ive ever had. It looks like a typical Storm sticker, and the serial number is looks like Storm. I dont really care I was just curious. The Alert was a sanded particle pearl and the Lock was straight pearl. Eric Thomas had given me a guess of around an S75 strength for the Alert cover.

Lock is resin, Alert is particle. I can't compare, but I have mine pin down with a low hole, and even though my surface looked like it was 500 grit, it didn't puke at all. Very IQ Tour Solid looking motion. If I could get my hands on another one, I so would.
