Double Clutch Review
« on: October 02, 2010, 12:45:49 PM »
I drilled my Double Clutch 5 ¼ x 5, very similar to my Break Out, and wasn’t really sure what to expect.  This ball looked close to the Break Out, but with an asymmetric core, and little different rg and diff numbers.  I thought that a similar drill would give me about the same overall hook as my Break Out, but with a different look.

I first tried this ball on a USBC White pattern, on new Brunswick Pro Lane.  It did give me a similar amount of overall hook compared to my Break Out, but the track flares were much tighter.  This let me play the lane a little straighter through the fronts, but the asymmetric core also gave me a stronger move off the end of the pattern.  So basically a little more skid flippy Break Out.  A real nice option to have when the Break Out just won’t carry.

I also tried the ball out on high friction HPL, on a typical house shot with similar results.  The only difference I saw here was that I had to make sure to keep the Double Clutch in the oil the first 20 feet or it would start to burn up.  This is a lot of ball for the money, with a big move off of the dry, that compliments the Break Out very well.
